Parking at The Contemporary

We self-parked the day of the Wine&Dine Half, with no troubles but the long line at the gate. We did have a breakfast ADR for the Wave. (yum, by the way, major yum)

The self-park lot is just behind the Valet lot; the Valet lot is closer to the front of the building, just a quick jog to the cars, really.

Hmm, this thread has me a little concerned. Later this month, we intended to go to Contempo Café on day of arrival for lunch as my kids get a kick out of watching the monorail go through. We're staying onsite, but not at CR. We have no intention of going to MK afterward as that is scheduled for our first full day. Are we going to have a problem parking at CR? :confused3

Only if you self park. You cannot self park at any resort except for your own, with the intent of going to a theme park. So you can't self park at the Contemporary and then head out to the Magic Kingdom. The lot isn't big enough for all of the people who think that is a good idea. But you can pay to valet park.

Did they ask if you had reservations? Did they have a list of people who had reservations?

If you are truly there just to visit the CR, they *may* let you self-park. They may give you a 3-hour pass, or not.

I think the only thing we've all learned here is, "it depends". On crowds, individual CMs, etc.

Last Sept, a CM was giving my friend and I a ride back to WL. We had to stop at the security shack and have our MB checked. I imagine that they can ask for your MB to check if you truly do have an ADR. I am hearing of this happening more and more. I am thrilled if this is the case.....those that are paying to stay at these resorts shouldn't have to park in the far reaches of the parking lot in order to accommodate those that want to park there for park access. Parking for a few hours is one thing....an entire day, or even part of the day, is not considerate.

If it's a very busy time at the resort, you could be denied valet parking. There are times when valet parking is reserved for those that are either staying at the resort, or that are using the facilities..conventions, etc. I haven't heard of too many instances where someone is denied valet parking.

Rather than showing my ID as used to happen, they scanned the MB.

And as I said, YUM about the Wave. So good. Highly recommend it. Tillamook Cheddar grits (I have them made without the applewood bacon)? Small Mickey waffles? For a very low, relative to Disney, buffet price? Yes thank you.

Bottom line....be prepared to be denied entrance without an ADR. This is an ongoing issue with resorts with direct park access. If it's at all busy, you will be questioned, and very possibly denied entrance. Parking at the TTC is always an option.
