Parking at the Contemporary/Poly

We had a Chef Mickey's ADR this past Saturday evening, and when we stopped at the gates, they asked my DH for his ID and looked us up in the system to make sure we had the ADR we said we had.

Not sure how they are handling those who want to eat Quick Service or just walk around the resort. If they don't have parking passes yet, I'm sure it will be soon.

We have been stopped at the gate at the Poly (within the last few years) when we have had a reservation at Ohana's for dinner. They have checked ID, checked our ADR on the computer in the booth, and then after that, waved us through. No mention of a time limit or place to park.

Well, it seems like there is no firm answer here - seems like it depends on who you get at the guard gate.I'll probably give it a shot. I'm not sure that I would want to park at the TTC for a counter service meal, but Captain Cook's is sooo good we just might :)

It's going to be a day day crowd level by crowd level I have seen they are handing out more parking pass when they do let you park with or without an adr

It all boils back to the people who abuse the system by parking a the resorts and going to the parks so that there is no parking left for those staying at the resorts or who actually have adrs or want to eat

If you are staying onsite, you can park at the TTC and walk to the Poly. It's actually a really nice (and short) walk.
In my specific situation, we are staying off-site and want to have a late-night snack at Trader Sam's and watch the fireworks since our kids can't make it up that late (they'll be in bed at the hotel with the grandparents). Since Trader Sam's doesn't take ADRs and we don't want a full meal at that time of night, I'm just a little concerned it may be an issue. I'm not thrilled with the idea of paying $20 to park at TTC when I don't need to go to MK and have a legitimate need to park at the Poly.

Perhaps late at night, you won't have much difficulty. I don't think many people show up at the resorts late in the evening to try to park for MK. I would guess that is much more of a problem earlier in the day.

We are planning on going to the Poly one day and using Valet. We will be eating breakfast at Capt. Cooks, 3:45 lunch/dinner at Ohanas' and then back for a late night snack at Tambu Lounge. While we will go to MK for a bit this should be ok since we are using valet correct?

I was actually turned away from the Contemporary one evening when I had a valid ADR for dinner, and told I would have to park at the TTC and take the monorail in. It was around 5:00pm, with a 5:30 ADR, so it can happen. I think it is something that is decided on a day by day, or even hour by hour, basis - so there will always be varying stories of how the situation is handled.

Well, this is frustrating news! DH and I were planning to go to Trader Sam's for late night bites and a drink before seeing the fireworks on the beach. It would be a non-park day and our only opportunity to see the fireworks since the kids just can't make it that long. Wish they would waive the fee if you could show your receipt!

The TTC parking lot is very, very close to the Poly main building. You'd have to walk a little more, but I bet it won't be too bad.

I may be wrong, but if you get turned away at the Poly, you'll already be past the point at which you would have paid to park at the TTC. I might be remembering this incorrectly, but I think the pay gates are way out front. By the time you get to the Poly gate, you should be fine. Maybe others can confirm?

Confirmed.

I was there 3/31, no ADR. We were going to rent the boats. We got asked for ID, but no parking pass. We were waved through.

I was also stopped last May - forgot my ID, so he scanned my magic band. Had a breakfast ADR for Kona Cafe, left my car there to go to the MK until mid day. No issues.

Staying at the Poly next trip so no worries!

Unless guests parking there and heading to MK take up YOUR parking space.
:worried:

Any experiences with parking at tge Grand Floridian? We have a 1900 Park Fare dinner reservation and wondering if there will be an issue with parking?

Are they still doing free valet for handicap guests? We have a Chef Mickey ADR one evening. I really haven't thought that far ahead about where we will park, but if we chose to do Contemporary for our meal, then move to TTC (not sure we would but if we were running later than planned...) wanted to know our options. TIA.
