Parking at Resorts for the Parks

Where is the correct place to park if you're visiting the boardwalk but not staying there?

Back in August we were staying at ASMu and wanted to visit the Boardwalk one evening so we drove over there. We told the attendant what we wanted to do and had to show our ASMu room card and were directed to park in one the backlots. I don't think we would have been able to park in these lots however if we were staying offsite.

Last New Years Eve when my family & I went to the Board Walk in the afternoon around 1:00 PM, everyone who was not a guest staying there & I assume if you had ADR's for a restaurant there, had to park in the parking lot behind the Hess which was across the street & everyone was given a 3 hour parking pass.

The Boardwalk are has several restaurants and bars. Everything from signature restaurants like Flying Fish to bars like Jellyrolls. NYE may be an exception but normally people can park in the lot accross the street without getting a 3 hour parking pass. Dinner, dessert at B&C and then an evening at Jellyrolls or the Dance Club can easily last more than 3 hours.

I would assume all WDW Resorts, specifically the Deluxe Resorts have expections for parking on a night like New Years Eve. I know the Contemporary goes into lockdown mode as they only let guests & guests with confirmed ADR's park there, as there is no seperate parking lot for the guests with just ADR's. I would also assume the Polynesian & Grand Floridian do the same, since they are also on the Monorail line. As for the Yacht & Beach Club, Wilderness Lodge & the Animal Kingdom Lodge, I assume they also they have different parking methods on a day like New Years Eve.

Dunno if youre joking or not, so I'll explain it for the bennefit of any newbies who might read this:

Because parking in the parks costs $10 a day, while parking at Downtown Disney and the resorts is free.

Also, the lot at MK is pretty far away from the park gates, on the other side of the Seven Seas Lagoon, necessitating a ride on a monorail or boat to get from the lot to the gates. But parking at Contemporary or Polynesian puts you a lot closer to the gates, which can save time, as well as that $10 parking fee, but also takes away parking from the Guests who pay a lot of money to stay at those resorts.

No, I was serious. Thanks for answering. I couldn't get why they would do it. Now it sounds like they just want to save a couple of dollars. Thanks. I can understand wanting to save a few dollars, but seems pretty complicated to do that. Thanks again.

New Years Eve 2000, I was staying at Boardwalk. They were stopping everyone on the path leading to International Gateway asking to see room keys. If you weren't staying around Bay Lake, you were turned back.
