Parking at resort then leaving car?

Parking in the fire zone puts other people in danger. If there were a fire, then the car blocking the curb would hinder the firemen from doing their job.

You seem to think that every rule, whether there's a victim or not, must be obeyed, to the letter, all the time. You then take a rule that is for everyone's saftety, like not parking in a fire zone, and apply it to CR parking.

:confused3

Fantastic! It's also now my fault that the busses are crowded!!!!

Ok, go ahead, follow every little rule. All the time.

Right now.

Especially those of you at work-I'm sure that looking at the Disboards during working hours is VERBOTEN!!!!!

Sooooo silly :joker:

Who is working. :confused3

I follow rules, yes all the time. Sorry if that bothers you. And as far as my Target comment I did not say they were parked in the fire lane. You critized others for taking your comments and twisting them, yet you did the same thing.

And Yes I think rules should be followed all the time and I don't think anyone is given the right to decide that the rule does not apply to them. If too many people who are not guests park at the Contemporary lot and over crowd the lot, then yes it can become a hazard.

But the point you are missing is. If Disney who posted the sign did not feel that everyone needs to abide by this rule, then they would not have posted the sign.

The sign says No Access to the parks. It does not say, No access to the parks unless you are dining at one of our restuarants or in your case No access unless you are Disneyrsh.

When I dine there I park and use the courtesy they have given as a dining guest for the alloted time period. After that I move my car.

If this is abused, it is possible dining guests will have to pay to park, or denied parking access all together and you will have to monorail or bus to the Contemporary to dine.

Honey, right next to the curb at Target IS the fire zone.

I'm glad you follow all the rules. Hooray, you're better than me!

This is the 1st time I have been on the boards today & I can't believe this thread has not been closed. Oh well from what I have read Disneyrsh likes to keep :stir: :stir: :stir: :stir: :stir: the pot, so at least we get to keep flaming her. So I am going to say again it's wrong to park at the Contemporary & walk to the Magic Kingdom even if you have an ADR, spend $200 on a meal & $50 on a dress. You are breaking the rules & one day because of people like you they will have to change the rules for people who visit the Contemporary & do not break the rules. When that day happens we can all blame you for ruining it for everyone else. So if you want to keep making remarks which no one will agree with, go ahead because I will keep flaming you. Also I am going to add a lot of times my family & I have also had to circle the parking lot for a space & one time we had to park so close to Space Mountain. So we were able to get parking spaces, just not as fast as you do.

Well, don't just take my word for it, here are some other folks opining about unenforced rules:
In the opinions of the various persons being quoted: Rules relating to price; rules relating to Blue Laws (which, by the way, are LAWS, not rules and ARE enforced, or the laws are changed - not by people ignoring them, but by legislation); rules relating to unenforced laws; rules relating to online forums... WHICH of the quotes refers to parking at the Contemporary?

Disneyrsh said:
Looks like Disney either needs to enforce their rules better, or make a parking lot for ADR/non guest customers.
They do. It's called the Magic Kingdom Parking Lot.
First you say nobody Contemporary Guest has complained about not being able to find a parking space. Then, when somebody who HAS been in that situation reiterates her experience you blame Disney - when actually the situation is the fault of Guests who abuse the CR (or Poly, or Beach Club) parking system.

Actually they do sell all-day passes at CR for about $300 a day and up. And they throw in a free room as a bonus. As I look at things, that's really what you're paying for at a monorail resort. Convenience.

Ive never considered myself a bargain hunter, but~ I had at least a dozen trips to WDW in the '90s, and parked many MANY times at the Poly, and GF, for less than $5 to valet (and the 5 was voluntary tipping)talk about a blue light special... even at $15 (10 + a $5 tip) :rotfl: Beats the hell out of the TTC, IMO

Posted and then decided to take myself out of this.

I think that now we can let this thread die because what else can we say that we already have said? So let's now try to move on but if some people want to keep making stupid comments about this, then it's their fault.

This phrase always opens doors for me, "I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal. People know me. I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany."

Baxter? Is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee!!

No, I get it, I just don't agree with it.

If Disney really was concerned about us parking there, they'd make it a lot harder to park and then go to the park. It's not. There isn't even a towing warning.

And I am a paying guest, from my point of view. I'm just not paying to stay at the Contemporary, or Poly, or GF. I'm paying to eat there.

Now, all of us who follow every sign, every rule, all the time, raise our hands?

What?

Nobody?

That's right. Disney puts the no parking signs up to discourage people from parking there, but there are no consequences for disobeying the sign.

I"m all about the consequences; if you tell me something's verboten, then back it up with consequences and I'll be happy to obey it.

From my point of view they put the signs up to appease the guests without really intending on enforcing it because they don't want to scare away the people who come to eat because it's a loss of revenue stream.

I don't see why people are getting so upset that their parking space is further out because of the crowds.

Nobody has said on this post "I had nowhere to park". Because everyone is still finding a parking spot, the issue remains that on site guests are steamed because they have to walk further because they're sharing the lot with the people who come and eat, or come over to rent the sea raycers, or some people just like to hang out in the different resorts, all day, or hang out, eat, walk over to the MK, come back, eat some more. Goof off, shop, wander around.

We rented a pontoon boat once from the Contemporary and were gone all afternoon-is that a violation? We're not staying there, we're not "at" the contemporary, we were off wandering around Bay Lake.

Are those people also not allowed because they haven't secured a room on site?

It's just so draconian to exclude these people, and THAT's why Disney doesn't enforce the parking.

So by your thread what you are also saying is that it's ok to shoplift too,or to take someones bike :moped: and before you say I didn't write that, really your all about breaking the rules as long as you don't get caught!

Why is there so much mean spiritedness over PARKING?

IMO, the only parking issue worth getting steamed about is that able-bodied people take handicapped designated spots. Past that, it's kind of petty to go on and on about this...dontchathink?

If you have not read every post the OP who created this thread asked if he could leave his car at the Contemporary, Chef Mickey's & then go off to the Magic Kingdom. Because the OP is not staying at the Contemporary it's against the rules to do that, which everyone told him. Later on Disneyrsh kept saying how she & her family break this rule all the time & then made excuse after excuse saying how is still right, eventhough there is a sign when you enter the Contemporary that says "We do not provide parking for Magic Kingdom" which is meant for non Contemporary guests, who go there just to eat. Basically everyone kept saying no your wrong & was flaming her, so that is why this thread has now just hit 11 pages.

Because, despite what some people think, Disney seems to actively avoid any sort of 'caste' system. They DO try to treat all their guests equally, and as such, there is no VIP parking, and no "front of the line" tickets, like you see at some other theme parks. At least not yet.

They do provide VIP parking at the 4 major parks via the Diamond Parking Pass. I'm not sure AAA members are of the highest caste... nonetheless, they allow us to park upfront when we book our packages through them.

Yes, I'm always up for a scrap. At least online, that is.

The problem is that I'm supposed to be working on articles (I'm a freelance magazine writer) and this is my favorite form of procrastination.

I run about 50/50, either arguing against a point or for it. Usually I will take the least popular opinion and run with it.

On a few occasions I've actually been able to work the topic into an article, but most of the time it's just for the sheer joy of arguing.

I don't tend to argue in real life, but I really enjoy it online. I do come from a buncha attorneys, it must be in my blood...

Well guys, it looks like we've been had. I have been following this thread with some sort of sick fascination. After some of this poster's response's I looked at some of her other postings today and found this one. So who knows if she even really feels the way she says she does? Bottom line, the OP's question was answered on page one. And as much fun as it has been for all of us, myself included to give this other poster a run for the money and argue ourselves half to death, I think she's been yanking our chains all along. Still can't believe this one lasted as long as it has since it has nothing to do with Restaurants anymore. I would have thought it might at least get moved over to the Community Board by now. In any case, its been interesting to say the least.

After reading what you quoted from Disneyrsh I would tell all Disboards members not to trust anything she says when it comes to controversial topics or anything in general, because she said herself how she takes the least popular opinion. I would also like to ask her does she have no life to sit at her computer & write a bunch of lies about topics she doesn't care about, even if it's for her work? I maybe Canadian but I did follow the last US Presidental election so you can say she is like John Kerry always flip flopping on her opinions. Disclaimer that was not a shot to anyone who voted for him, I only brought that up because I always heard that about him from the media.

I think she's a nice lady who was getting some material to use for her job and I suspect she got it. I will say she made me think about my sometimes being hypocritcal about following only certain rules. I still don't think she (if she in fact feels this way) is right regarding this topic but this board is all about opinions after all. I think we all need to let this go, I am signing off on this thread, sure hope the OP didn't get scared off by her very innocent and valid question. Good night all!

I still would not trust anything she says after reading that quote. She maybe a nice person but as far as I am concerned if you post that you take the least opinion & run with it without knowing all the info despite what other posters have mentioned, how can you expect anyone to take your word seriously? That is just my opinion & the way I feel.

This thread has strayed far from any topic related to WDW dining. It has gone on plenty long enough, and the OP's question was answered on the first page. I'm closing this one.
