I checked their website, but I can't find the minimum parking days for the extended lot. Anyone know?

Extended Parking is $5.75 per day, no hourly rates. There is not a minimum number of days. I always park there when I travel.

There is no minimum days at the airport. No problem staying in this lot. I use it all the time.

If you are a AAA member you can park at Charlie Browns(Route 60) it is only 1-2 miles from airport, for $29 for the week. There shuttle bus is always quick and and only a 3 minute ride to the airport.;)

We either use Charley Brown's, or stay at the Wyndham (old Marriott on Aten Road) - both have good airport shuttle service. :) CB's is MUCH more convienent than parking in that extended term lot (which we have done MANY times - That walk w/ luggage feels forever!).

Yes, the extended lot does have shuttle buses. Makes it easy to get to those outer reaches of the parking lot.

We always curbside check the luggage (USAir) and then park the car, so we only have to take the carryons onto the shuttle. A couple times we got lucky and found a space close to the moving walkway so we didn't even have to take the shuttle.

I didn't know they would let you do curbside check in and then park the car. I don't want to be seperated from my Mom at the airport. If we can do the curbside with the big bags and still both go to the parking lot that would be great.

My Mom and I have flown to WDW twice since 9/11/01 and didn't have a problem at PIT or MCO parking the car curbside while we check the luggage outside. There are cops around but if they see you in the curbside line they don't bother you. At MCO, we curbside check with the rental car and then return the car to National.

You may have a problem on the return if you don't want to be separated. When we return to PIT, my Mom waits with the luggage outside baggage claim while I get the car from the lot and bring it around to the baggage claim curb. We have too much luggage to drag on the shuttle. You have to exit the parking lot and pay and then stay to the left and follow the "return to airport" sign and circle around to "arriving flights".

Curbside is great in Pittsburgh. I would suggest waiting with your mother until the luggage starts to arrive at the carousel. Luggage has been taking a good 30 to 45 mins to arrive. That is a lot of circling while you wait for her to appear with the luggage. I fly weekly out of PIT and sometimes it takes longer for my luggage to show up than the flight did.

Thanks for the reply. I know when we get back in town, I will have to wait and get the luggage off the carosel since Mom won't be able to lift the bags (I think I will be barely able to lift the bags).

Nine days to go.

We always rent a cart (I think $3) and I get the luggage off the carousel and roll it to the curb and she waits there. If it's cold, she waits behind the glass door. We found it easier if she waits on the other end from USAir, I think it is American. USAir's curb is usually crowded.

Thats why whenever we fly, we only do carry-on. Even if we are in Florida for a week, my wife and I always just do 1 carry-on each and a travel bag. When we land at Orlando(MCO) we are in our rental car(Emarald Aisle) on our way to WDW 10 minutes after we get off the plane.
Same thing at Pittsburgh, after we land we call Charlie Browns from my cell phone, an we are on there shuttle van 10 minutes after landing.......we never have to wait, worry, etc about luggage EVER!!!!!:D

Orlando is faster with the luggage than PIT. Don't get me started about those that carry all kinds of stuff on the plane and hold things up for everyone. I am not that you do just from first hand experience there are always a handful on every flight that I am on.

I think they should make everyone check their luggage and make the airlines perform their jobs better so everyone got their suitcases and in a reasonable amount of time.

It's more difficult now to just carryon with the 1 carryon restriction, especially when you only have 1 or 2 people. I'm not in favor of banning all carryons, there are some items that you have to carry with you. Like a laptop or camcorder, who would want to check those? Maybe tighten up the size requirements for carryons.

Safetymom,
If our carry-ons are under the legal limit, why would it affect other passengers??I would rather have my carry-on hand searched at the gate, then have to wait for 30 minutes at the carousel, or not show up at all.Carry-ons give you a "peace of mind" when you travel, when you have to worry about other things.
