Is there any way to get free parking at the theme parks other than staying at a Disney resort? I thought I remembered something about AAA members? Anything else?

AAA does not get free parking. Some AAA offices give out a pass for the AAA lot which is the closest parking behind the handicap parking. If you had that pass you would still have to pay for parking if not staying onsite or an annual pass holder.

Free parking is something to consider when trying to decide on or off site. I'm thinking it might be close to 15.00 now; not sure, we stay on site. Couple that with gas and it is something to consider.

We are AP holders but took note yesterday, $14.00 for regular auto.

At DL if you buy park hoppers through AAA you do get free parking. As a Premium AP holder I also get free parking at DL. :)

Just park for free at any resort. Then ride the bus. :rolleyes1

Yeah, not gonna happen. I don't think some people realize, all the disney resorts have guardhouses you need to go through just to get to the parking lot.

OP, unless you are staying at a disney resort or have an AP, you'll pay for parking.

Last time I stayed onsite, I was frustrated by the parking lots being so full. I watched as several cars/trucks parked and everyone got their stuff and went to the bus lines..:confused3 :sad2:

Technically, you could drive to Downtown Disney, take a bus to a resort, and then take a bus to a park, but it's probably going to take you about 2 hours from start to finish. To me, it's worth the $14 to have extra park time.

Thanks for the info. I will check with AAA on buying the park tickets.

We are former DVC owners, and had stayed onsite every year for the past twenty. We discovered Wyndham Bonnet Creek through friends and are staying in a 2 bedroom for the week for $650. Given the low cost for our resort, the cost of car rental, gas and parking still do not bring us to the cost for staying on property. So we will put up with parking fees. They do have a shuttle, so we may use that as well.

I'm sorry, that really stinks and I wish Disney would start cracking down on people like that.

If someone isn't a guest, they are only supposed to have a parking pass for 3 hours at any resort. If Disney would follow their own rules and start towing cars, I bet people would sit up and take notice. ;)

I have another quick question regarding parking....we are staying off property at our timeshare, but have ADR for Chef Mickey's for breakfast. Are we allowed to leave our car parked there and just take the monerail over to MK?

Thanks!

If you were dishonest you could always tell the parking attendant at MK that you're going to the lost and found or the contemporary resort, they'll let you in free. You can just drive straight to parking or hit the monorail to go to Epcot. If you were dishonest, which I totally am not. You can also access the MK through the road that the wilderness lodge is on. It's clearly marked on the map, you can bypass the toll booths all together if you have no poker face. Or you could borrow someone else's pass and copy it. Or take an old parking pass, scan it to your computer, and change the dates and reprint it. If you were dishonest. Maybe if you'd rather spend $14 a day on souvenirs. I would never do this every time I stay off property, no sir.

No. You can park at the Contemporary for up to three hours while you dine, shop, etc., but not for park access.
