Do you have to pay to park at the resort hotels? We will be staying at the Royal Pacific. I've seen where some on the thread are saying there is a $6.00 charge.

If there is a charge, do Annual Passholders get to park for free?

thanks

Yep you do have to pay the $6.00 per day.
The free paking for APH is only good
in the parking lot of the theme parks, not
the resorts.

Yep, $6 for self park, $12 for valet. We did valet and it was WORTH IT. You pay once for every night, and have in and out priveleges =)

Enjoy your stay!

We are going in August. Would we have to pay $6 each time we park? We are staying at Portofino. We plan to eat breakfast and a dinner or two in the Orlando area as well as visit family.

Since we never use our car while we are there and we will have APs, I was wondering if they allow overnight parking in the main garages. I thought I might save about $25 by unloading the vehicle with a bell man and driving it over to the garage. I assume they allow overnight parking since it is a bar area and of course they have people who need to leave their vehicles overnight once in a while, but has anyone done this?

You can ask the attendant at the parking garage. I've never done it but have heard of people that have parked at the garage.

I do pay everytime we go but I also put in my report that paying for parking at the hotel is wrong.I think they just throw my complaint away because they only contacted me on the first time I wrote a letter of disappointment and said that this is our policy LIKE IT OR NOT!!!!!Maybe this time I will pay on american express and refuse the charge and let amex handle it.What do you think about that and what are your views on being charged to park at the resort.

I was wondering if they would charge $6 per day for parking even if you don't move your car for duration of your stay? If so, then you're automatically charge $6 per day on your room whether or not you move your car?

So, room rate would be, Room rate+ tax+Parking fee+Tips for various helpers, Well... I guess that's the price of vacation...

Just for that, I'm planning to have extra extra FUN plus plus FUN!!!:earseek:

They do charge you for every day, whether you use your car or not. I worked in a hotel at one time and we did charge for parking, but the hotel did not own the garage that was used. It was adjacent to a mall and the mall owned the garage, so they rented the space. As an employee, I had to pay as well.
I guess you are paying for it, no matter how you look at it. If they do it this way, the people who are not using the lot are just getting a discount. It could have just been assumed in the price for the room, though.

Many, many hotels charge for parking. Where space is limited, parking is expensive. They charge for parking at the Disneyland hotels as space is very limited. Most hotels in cities across the US charge for parking. The charge is $38/night at my hotel in San Francisco. The room charge is $110.

The price of parking is comparable to the price of a bowl of Dippin' Dots.

I actually like that there is a parking fee put out front instead of hidden in the price. A lot of people don't bring a car so why should they pay a parking fee hidden in their room charge?

A friend came to visit me at RPR, she was told that if she bought a drink or meal or something from giftshop that they would validate her parking. It worked, we bought some drinks at Orchid Court Lounge & she was able to park for free....considering what guests pay to stay I would think self parking could be a little more reasonable. We also used the Valet and it was great

On what basis will you refuse the charge? You already know about the charge. A credit card dispute isn't approriate just because you don't like having to pay extra for parking. Many hotels charge for parking. You've express your opinion but the hotel doesn't agree with you. Virtually every hotel in the major cities (NYC, Chicago) charge extra for parking. Other hotels in Orlando are starting to charge for parking (MOWC for example). If you don't like the hotels policies stay elsewhere. I have a much bigger problem with hotel that tack on a required resort fee that isn't optional (like parking) and may not even be fully disclosed when you make your reservation (PL and Hotwire).

Originally I didn't like the charge BUT the total charge with the parking is still reasonable (compared with the Disney resorts). The Universal hotels don't seem to have as many non-guests crashing the pools or parking in the hotels to avoid paying for parking. On balance charging for parking may be a plus.

Go to the Disney resort board and read all the posts about hotel guests being unable to find a parking spot because of all the non-guests using the hotel for free, close in theme park parking.

Do the hotels charge per night or per day?

For example, we are checking in on Saturday and checking out on Monday for a 2 nights stay. Would this be a $12.00 charge or an $18.00 charge?
