I am looking for someone who has a lot of disney experience who may be able to answer this question. We are not staying on a Disney property this visit and will by parking at the parks every day. I read on another forum that it is possible to park at Downtown Disney Marketplace and ride bus to paks or someone suggested paking at the Boardwalk and catching bus from hotel or boat from Boardwalk. Is there an area to park just to visit the Boardwalk area or do you have to park at the hotel?? I read on another forum this wasn't a problem. Please offer any advice you can.

There are no buses from downtown disney to any of the parks. So you can't park there and get a bus to a park. Also, you can't park at any of the hotels unless you are staying there, or eating there. If you are eating there you can get a pass for 3 hours. If you stay after that you run the risk of the car being towed. If you are staying off site, the best bet is to park at one of the lots for the park you are visiting. Once you pay for the day you can leave and come back without paying again. You also can move to a parking lot for a different park without paying again. Just keep your receipt.

Welcome to the DIS!

Sorry, you cannot park at Downtown Disney and ride the bus to the parks because there are no longer any buses that go to the parks from DTD. My guess is that it's because of folks who did what you would like to do and were not paying to park. You may park at the Boardwalk resort if you wish to visit the resort or the Boardwalk area to stroll or perhaps get a bite to eat. They want you to spend money there :). They will give you a temporary parking pass for this kind of thing which is good for a couple of hours. However, it is against Disney policy to allow offsite guests to park at Disney resorts and then use Disney transportation to the parks. There is even a sign right outside the entrance to the Boardwalk parking lot which reminds guests of the policy.

I know that every dollar helps and I'm all for saving money, but unless you have an Annual Pass or you take your hotel's shuttle to the parks you will have to pay for parking.

One thing I always take into consideration when booking an offsite resort is the added 12.00 daily parking. Over several days this can really add up and it's less to stay at a Disney Resort. Same for Swan/Dolphin you can park at the parks free, but has it's own 9.00 day parking.

No buses to parks from DTD and you can get a 3 hrs pass for dining at the Epcot or MK resorts. You could pay to valet park, but that's the same price as the parks and it's only good for that lot and so you can't come & go.
