Parking at Boardwalk

Hi all... if I was staying offsite and wanted to hang out the better part of the morning/early afternoon at the Boardwalk, will I have a problem parking there for longer than the old standard of 3 hours?? Anything special I need to do to prevent getting towed or ticketed, if that's even done?

It may depend on when you are planning on going and when you are parking. During busy times, it might be difficult, but you might be able to park across the street closer to the gas station.

As Deb & Bill said, if it is during a busy time you will probably not be allowed to park. Especially if you arrive early in the morning as there is not a lot going on at the boardwalk at that time of the day and the request might be seen as a way to park for Epcot. Without something like a reservation for breakfast at Trattoria al Forno I suspect you will be turned away.

I would just plan on parking on the overflow lot across the street. Quite honestly, if I was going to spend some time at the Boardwalk and not staying there, I would prefer that lot anyway. The other one is smallish and while we have been there twice, both times, we have almost gotten hit backing out of spaces in that lot. The overflow one is more spread out and easier to navigate. We had to park there on our second visit and liked it so much better that we never parked in the "true" lot after that.

You can always park at the Fantasia Mini Golf courses which are right next to Swan & Dolphin. There is a very nice and easy to use walkway that leads into the Boardwalk. Free parking and no one will question a car being parked there for a few hours.

When I was there in late October, there was a sign that lot was closed, with a cm guard. From what I understand, it's CM parking.

There were reports at one time that the lot at Fantasia could be monitored so if you aren't playing golf, you are asked to move your car. That could be during busy times, though and it might not be happening now but wanted to mention it.

If you pay for valet parking at the BWI or BC/YC you can leave your car all day.

I was curious about that as well. I like teh Boardwalk, but there really is not a lot to keep me occupied for hours during the day. Made that mistake one time.

When we were there last week the only lot open to non-handicap guest parking was to the right of the guard booth. At times it had CMs checking for BW parking passes. Over Veteran's Day weekend it appeared that non-guests were not being allowed to park in the self-parking lot. The lot to the left of the guard booth had one row of handicap parking and the rest was all valet.

When we stayed at BW last Dec. we received a letter warning us that even as guests of the resort we might have problems finding parking, since we fly in I paid no attention to the parking situation, but are they still sending the warning out?

Yes, they did for us. I think if the resort is close to full they don't have enough parking, thus the warning. There was always room in the valet lot.

When I was there in October, there was no problem finding a space close to the entrance row. We were in and out a few times. It was the height of Food & Wine, so I'm sure the resort was full. On the weekend, they had a guard at the lot entrance by the convention center, I guess to be sure someone didn't say they would valet and then try to sneak into the free lot. Weekdays no one was there.
