We are staying on Disney property (ASM), but I am not sure that the bus system would be best for us. If you are staying at a resort, can you park at another to use the monorail system? For instance, can I take my car in the morning to the Grand Floridian and park to use the monorail and then come back in the evening and drive back to my resort? Because I think you can go to the other resorts, but without parking there anyway I am not sure how you would get there otherwise.

I will be staying at the dolphin resort in August and as far as i know they charge a daily fee for parking. I do know that if you stay at any of the resorts you can park for FREE at any of the theme parks.

So I don't know if you can park at another resort for free and then take the bus to a park but i would think it would be just easier to drive to the park instead for free instead of having to wait for buses's. That is what we are planning to do when we visit AK & MK but for EP and HS we will just walk :)

OFF TOPIC: My 1st post :) I have been reading the forums for about a week and finally decided to join! Since I read your post and no one has responded I thought I would respond.

Sincerely,

Dave

You can park 3 hours at other resorts, but like PP said....it is free to park at all of the parks :)

No. Resort parking is for people with legitimate business at that resort. Why not just park at the park you'll be visiting? It would be easier and faster, plus you wouldn't be breaking any rules.

Welcome Dave.

To the OP - you are not supposed to park at the other resorts. The exception would be if you paid to valet park your car there for the day. The free resort parking is for guests of that resort and those visiting for ADRs, spa appointments etc. I believe there is a 3 hour limit then subject to towing.

thank you guys for answering- I didn't think about just parking at the parks. We do plan on having ADR's for some of the resorts, so maybe we will park at the park and then take the monorail to the resort. thank you again everyone! I asked because I don't want to plan/do something that I'm not supposed to!

If your ADR/ressie is at one of the monorail resorts, you can just park at the TTC (which you'd have to do for the Magic Kingdom anyway) and then take the resort monorail to either the Poly, Grand Floridian or Contemporary - wherever your ADR is (the monorail will stop at all three plus the Magic Kingdom). There is a separate express monorail to take guests directly to the Magic Kingdom which does not stop at any of the resorts.

If you won't be visiting the Magic Kingdom on the day of your ADR, you can park at the resort where you have your ADR for a maximum of 3 hours. But as others said, you can't leave your car there or you will risk ticketing/towing, especially seeing you will be going at a busy time of year looking at your ticker.

Thank you! I think that I am going to do that then! I thought of the monorail because I do have a special needs son and the crowds sound really bad on the buses! So I thought it would make more sense for us using the monorail, but I think I will park it and take a tram!

FYI the monorails can be very crowded also, so you can prepare your son.

You would not want to park at Grand Floridian anyway. Worst self-parking lot on property.

If you did that, you would have to then get your special needs child out of the parking lot, across the street to the hotel, through the hotel parking lot (the one they don't let guests park in), into the hotel, and upstairs to the monorail platform. You'd have to use valet parking for the convenience, and it's not free. Parking at TTC and taking the monorail to MK would be easier. Or the ferry, if your child is bothered by crowds and the monorail is crowded (hang back a little before disembarking the ferry, let the crowd get out first).

The Swan/Dolphin resorts charge for parking, but they are not Disney resorts. Disney resorts don't charge for self-parking. But they might not allow parking without an ADR or other reason to be there at a resort that has easy access to theme parks, and even then they may give a time limit.

Please either take the bus or park at the TTC. There is little parking at GF and you are only supposed to park there for meals, etc. and only for 3 hrs.

Hi, I have 2 non-verbal austic sons (now 13 & 15) we took the buses to the parks except for our last day.
the only time we had alot of people on the bus was at closing - if you could stall in the parks (be one of the last ones out) or leave before fireworks then it really wasn't that bad.

One son didn't like riding backwards otherwise he was great with the buses (he is my hair puller if the crowd bugs him)
