Parking and then using Disney transportation.

Hi :)

We're arriving in 8 days, staying in Downtown Disney at the Hotel Royal Plaza, and will have a rental car.

I get a bit antsy with sitting in a single park all day, and really enjoy riding Disney transportation when I can (especially the monorails and Friendship launches) -- *and* I want to be sure to experience every park at least once in the day and in the evening as well.

So, I guess the question is -- will it be possible for us to park our car in one park's lot in the morning and use Disney transportation the rest of the day to get around without getting stranded?

If it's been more than two hours since a park has closed for the day, is it impossible to get back there? Once a park has closed, does transportation still run to it from everywhere, or is it just to and from the resorts after closing?

I haven't traveled with a car in ten years so this is a whole new level of confusion for me. :)

Thanks.

You can park your car in a park's lot for the day and rely on transportation. I would pick the one with the longest hours and go from there. One hour after the park closes, the transportation stops.

I'd been planning on going to whichever parks closed earliest first and ending the day at those that were open latest. I hadn't considered driving to where we'd end up and taking transportation to where we were going because I thought it'd be wasting time, but now that I think about it, it's really six of one or half a dozen of the other.

The only real difference is the time of day, I guess. I'd rather be at the park we're going to right when I want to be there and not worry about a schedule at the end of the day.

But at least I have confirmation that it's probably not a good idea to park at Animal Kingdom and stay at the Magic Kingdom until 10 pm and expect to get to our car.

Never fear... we will get you back to your car.

Park to Park buses run FROM a park until the park is clear. So for example, even if AK closes at 5pm, and Studios closes at 10pm, buses will run from the Studios to AK until the Studios is clear.

For the MK, park to park buses run from the TTC until late late late.

**HOWEVER**

The one catch is that 2 hours after a park closes, the trams typically stop running. So, be prepared to walk to your car.

Oh, thank you so much, Tyler :)

Admittedly, I've never had the desire to hang around after a park closed to see what magical transportation happenings there are. I'm sure the transportation to a closed park runs less frequently than normal, but as long as it runs, that's all that matters :)

Thank you again.

Tyler,

I am getting a 5 Day Park Hopper pass (staying in a timeshare off site) . On the 6th day of my stay , will I still be able to take the monorail. We plan on doing 2 days at MK, one at Epcot, one at MGM and one at AK. Then on the 6th day our park pass is up and we want to come back on site and shop, got to DQ and PI and such and look at the various hotels.

Can we still use the transportation system?

Sheri

Tyler, I just have to ask if you're that really really fun bus driver?

We have MANY "really really fun" bus drivers, and yes, I happen to be one of them (along with my alter-ego, Bob the Monorail Pilot... lol). We have some who tell jokes, others do trivia, some even get the whole bus singing. Two drivers were even recently spotlighted on the local news.

And that just gave you away as exactly the person I meant, lol. My mother and my nephew were down a couple of weeks ago, and you absolutely MADE their last day. We had had a very long day, nephew wasn't feeling well, Mom was worried about flying the next morning, everybody was a little crabby, and they were both so very sad to be leaving. Your goofiness pepped us all back up, and made our last night together a really memorable one.

I don't know if you get to hear feedback like that very often, so I wanted to be sure to tell you what it meant to us, and say THANKS!

It's feedback like that, that reminds me why I love my job so much. :)

Makes me wonder though... I'm going to have to as my friend Bob in Monorails (Yes, there really is one, and he's a GREAT guy) if he ever gets any random strange weird complaint letters about his bus ride... LOL!

Can I leave a car overnight at one of the parks? If I drive there and prefer not to drive home, or get a ride with someone else?
