Parking a Stroller for a long time?

My youngest boy is 7 years old and has a condition called Ehlers Danlos - he can walk, but fatigues very easily and has a medical stroller for these times. Some days, he doesn't need it at all - but other times he does (particularly if we're doing a lot of walking in a big city or if it is hot outside).

Is there a way to park a stroller at the front of a park so we can use it if we need it, or will we need to take it to every attraction? If we leave it at the front of the park, will it get buried by a bazillion other strollers as the day wears on?

We're definitely bringing it, but prefer to use it only if he needs it.

You can park it in any stroller section and come back for it later. However, please be aware there is no one watching the strollers. It is not unheard of for them to be taken, either on accident or stolen. So if you plan on leaving it for a time, you may want to lock the back wheels together. That way if a CM needs to move it in order to reorganize an area they can. But it is useless to anyone else.

As our kids have gotten older we tend to use the stroller only to get from one area of a park to another. We'll "stroll" to Tomorrowland then walk to Buzz, Monster's Inc, Space Mountain, etc. Then we pick up the stroller and go to park them in Fantasyland... Works well for us.

Those are both great suggestions. We have a Maclaren Major, which is a medical stroller that costs in the range of $500-$800, so we definitely don't want it stolen! I never thought about locking the back wheels together.

I think moving the stroller from land to land is a good idea. That way we'll have it at hand, & hopefully it won't get "buried" in a half-day's worth of strollers.

Hopefully we won't have to use it much, but I have a feeling the bigger parks like AK and EPCOT are going to do him in.

I think I read a while ago that since the cast members move strollers around frequently, they ask you not to lock them.

We brought a very expensive one our first trip, and had no problem leaving it for a short while sometimes. I do understand worrying about leaving one that expensive though!

You may find that you'll need it much more than you anticipate, so won't need to leave it anywhere for too long.

It's not a bad idea to do something to make yours stand out, like a bright bandana or balloon.

As long as the CMs can still roll the stroller you are ok. That is why locking the back or front wheels together works--they can tip it and roll it on the front or back wheels. You just can't lock the stroller to something, such as a pole or railing.

As far as the balloon goes, keep in mind that is a big no no at the Animal Kingdom. Balloons are not allowed in that park.

Front wheels make much more sense that back wheels for CM sake but back wheels are best against theft. CMs will just pick it up if need be to move or tilt it. Only thing 100% against the rule is locking it to anything. If you lock it to something your lock will be cut and your stroller moved. I've even seen some have security waiting for them when they lock it to a pole or rail or building.

I would use the stroller to get from one area of the park to another and then park it in that area, instead of leaving it up in front for a long time.

We also enjoyed being able to leave all our stuff in the stroller and go back there to drink, snack and re-apply sunscreen. Nothing was left in the stroller that we would be upset if it were stolen. I did use a very fashionable fanny pack that I've had for 15 years as well.

We also would move the stroller as we found nicer parking. Some areas (like near Buzz's Space Ranger Spin) had a covered stroller parking area. Others, actually had a section with rows of strollers set up and then others were just areas next to walls in the main walkway.

I'd bring the stroller with you. Find a nicer stroller parking area and leave it there in a central location in the land.

Be sure to decorate your stroller to make it easier to see. At night, I used glow necklaces from the dollar store and wrapped those around the handle. Made it SO much easier to find. During the day, I wrapped a few different colored ribbons around the handle. I did have a pin wheel I was planning on using, but DS just wanted to play with it, so gave up on that.

For MK, we like to use the train stations. We will park the stroller at one of the train stations and take the train to another part of the park and when ready will jump back on the train.

These are all excellent ideas! I will definitely get something to decorate his stroller with. It is fairly easy to spot as it looks different from most umbrella strollers (it is much bigger - accommodates a child up to 110 pounds). I do think we'll probably move it to each new section of the park as we go.

We parked our stroller for hours one night and didn't have any issues. I would think somewhat keep it with you since you don't want to have a really long walk to it if he starts to tire and some of the parks are really large.

I read somewhere that recommended getting a see-through plastic bag and putting a dirty diaper (or make it look dirty by pouring pepsi on it) and tying it to the stroller. People would think twice about taking then.

Honestly that is he most ridiculous "trick " going. First there are garbage bags every five feet. Second why would you leave a dirty diaper baking in the sun. If I was out to steal a stroller that is the stroller I would take. Ten second to get the bag off (and I'll drop it on the floor for you) and off I go.
