Is buying direct VDH to mostly use in Florida a terrible plan?

Just wanted to say, Go Bears! Not that I pay any attention to college sports, but UC Berkeley is also my alma mater.

And, I do recall those damp, dreary days there - after finishing high school in San Diego (about 10 minutes inland from La Jolla), I quite detested Berkeley weather at the time since my main point of comparison was San Diego. Now, looking back after being on the East Coast basically ever since graduating, didn't know just how good I had it there.
I think I found your yearbook photo! 🤣

So Cal Forever!

Yep, one of many reasons I chose UC Berkeley over UCLA, although I will admit some of those dreary days did have me second-guessing that decision. Looking back though, no regrets. Berkeley was a pretty great place for undergrad. Would I want to live there now? No - I'd probably prefer one of the Bay Area communities on the other side of the Oakland Hills - Walnut Creek or Pleasanton areas. You get pretty nicely shielded from that marine layer over there.

In fairness, the difference between #15 and #17 is immaterial, and I am not saying that only because I work at #20.

Goooo UCI anteaters! We're still undefeated in football! (0-0 🤣)

You can imagine my confusion when I met another student in my incoming first-year class at Cal who went to my high school, but we'd never met each other.

Turns out that I went to Paly (Palo Alto) and she went to Pali (Pacific Palisades).

Feels like walking into a hot shower and smells like the devil’s armpit.😆 I couldn’t get over the sulfuric smell of the water they were spraying at the water play area for Cool Kid Summer. lol.
The water is, interesting. I wonder why it tastes bad. I always order cases of dasani water from Ubereats just to make sure its not going to taste like crap lol.

Im not sure if this was just our hotel or perhaps because its by the beach it makes sense, but our room at VB straight smelled like mold/mildew.

They had to come in with the humidifiers, air purifiers and spray the room. I need to write that trip report, ive never stayed at a dvc that smelled bad. We rewashed all of our clothes that we washed there at home again because that mildew smell was on the clothes too

Water at Polynesian was noticeably more sulfuric than at Crescent Lake areas. I’ve read there is more sulfur in the water near Bay Lake, so maybe that’s why. I bring a Brita filter every trip, and it still couldn’t fully rid the sulfur from Polynesian’s water (I was in the older area; maybe PIT is better?).

Central Florida just has a lot of sulfur in the water. Not harmful, but definitely smelly. https://kasco.com/blogs/service-gui...YiCaExMpS9KpspN-3e3HaK3ZZqTLLv2y_L4G-YM2KiW9S

it's awful. I filled up water bottles from one of the water dispensers off of the lobby and the smell made me want to gag.

I think you're def onto something with this. After we played tennis at bwv, we filled up our empty water bottles at the fountain next to it.

Normally, I would never do this esp in Fl lol, but I was thirsty and the water tasted cold and fresh, no bad taste at all.

In contrast, because of the good taste, we went to MK and filled up our water bottle in the same kind of water bottle fountain. It tasted like absolute crap and we threw it away
