I've only ever used the buses at WDW. I'm leaving in the morning and I just realized that there are alternatives to buses, but only between certain parks and only between certain resorts and parks. We're going to be parkhopping at least once a day, so I would like to know all of my options for getting from one park to another or from the resorts to the parks. I realize there might be dozens, but can anyone tell me what the most popular are? Like I just read you can get to MGM via boat from Epcot. How? Where? I know the monorail goes to MK and Epcot but that's about all I know:) Thanks so much in advance! :worship:

you can catch the boat at MGM to Epcot outside the turnstile. Instead of heading right to catch the buses, you go to the left. Not sure where you dock at Epcot, but I do think this boat goes to the epcot resorts too, so I don't think it is very quick.

The monorail only runs between MK and Epcot. Also, the resort monorail will take you to Contemporary, TTC, Poly, GF and MK.

You can take a boat from MK to Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge and Ft. Wilderness.

You can also take a boat from POR to Downtown Disney.

These are all I can think of! Have a wonderful time. I am leaving Friday.

Thanks so much, that's perfect! We're doing Chef Mickey's tomorrow night and we're staying at Pop but going to DTD before heading to the CR so it looks like I'll take the bust to DTD, then when we're done there, hop a bus to the CR. I'm not sure how to get back to Pop though. I guess the monorail to MK, then a bus back to Pop would be the way to go.

I'm glad to know of the resort options, as I wanted to check out the Christmas displays at GF and maybe check out the WL in case we have some extra money to blow on a deluxe in the future. Taking anything other than a bus if we have some time to kill would be nice.

If MK is still open after your Chef Mickeys, you can just walk over to the MK and hop the bus to POP. If MK isn't open, you can take a bus to DTD from CR and then hop the bus to POP.

We are checking into the POP on Friday! First time staying there. Can't wait!

Have fun!

The boat from EPCOT to MGM leaves from the International Gateway which is in the World Showcase section of EPCOT between the UK and France. Make sure you get your hand stamped when you leave so you can get into MGM. The boat stops at the Boardwalk, Yacht Club and the Dolphin resorts and takes about 20 to 25 minutes. You can also walk via the Gateway.

If you are in MK when you leave you can take a boat to the Contemporary and to WL as well as take a boat to the Poly or Grand Floridian. It a nice change of pace from the Monorail.

This might not be exactly what you're asking, but we took some great advice a couple of weeks ago and utilized taxi's to get around a little more quickly and when I wasn't feeling up to waiting for the bus or when we needed to get to another resort for a PS.

Ask the front desk or the valet/luggage stand to call a taxi cab for you. Yellow is what they'll send. Don't use anything other than what Disney calls for you, you never know what you'll get***. We probably spent about $100 all told for our multiple trips, but it was well worth it. We did Illuminations our first night there and timing was tight with airline arrivals but it was so nice to have that taxi pick us up at the hotel. We had a large group and utilized the larger taxi van which are the same price.

Taxi's are a really great alternative to even the best WDW transportation. Hope this helps you even a little bit.

***One evening late while I was getting some change at the front desk a woman ran in screaming to help her stop the taxi that had just dropped her off - she had left something of value in the cab. The front desk had trouble helping her because she had not used a Yellow Cab (although she had Fulton's Crab House at DD call one for her and it was not a Yellow.) The front desk was at a loss as what to do since it wasn't a Yellow, she didn't remember what kind of cab, the color, the phone #, etc. They did a round about investigation by calling Fulton's, but they said that multiple cabs are available at DD and they didn't really remember specifically. I don't know what eventually happened, but I was glad I had stuck to the advice given to me about Yellow and asking the front desk/valet/luggage stand to call for me.

Thanks Cheryl! We don't mind waiting for the buses/boats or walking when it's just the three of us, but taxis would be great for next year if my parents come with us. My dad has bad knees and I hate to see him hurting at the end of the day, waiting on the buses or trams. Hopping into a taxi would be perfect!

Well, I'm off in about 45 minutes. Yeah!
