Newbie question again,
I am new to DVC, and see there is the 4 day non park hopper pass avail at $199.
Can anyone tell me what the best value is (in terms of ticket buying strategy) for our trip as follows:
we always get an 8 day park hopper pass for a 9 day trip
We may very well be back to Disney within 365 days of this years trip (just not confirmed at this time)

I did do an upgrade once from a 4 day pass to an 8 day park hopper after first day of use and it seemed to save me the most money- would this still hold true (vs buying all days outright?)
Lastly- now that we book our favorite rides with MDE ahead of time, would I not be shooting myself in the foot if I only bought a smaller number of days then upgraded on site, as I would only be able to book attractions 60 days ahead for the actual number of tickets I bought?
As always- thanks for your input

:) I would think it would depend on how I "do" Disney. As DVC Members we now find ourselves spending more time at the resort. I hate these new $199 tickets can't be upgraded with Park Hoppers....but I think we will make do on our trip in May. Our APs ended on the last full day of our trip in October. Because we have DVC we no longer need an AP to get a TIW card. For one trip I can do one park per day and skip a day of two in the week and head to DTD or the pool at the resort. My parents are headed with us this next trip and I think they would like to have the option of the cheaper ticket. We do not have a second trip planned in 2015 so having APs really doesn't help us. We have to use these new tickets by May 24, and our May trip ends on the 8th. I think they will be just fine for this next trip and have planned my ADRs accordingly...I went to Easy WDW and plotted May park hours, recommended parks for the days, then restaurants, etc. to get the most out of these tickets.

I can't see getting another AP for a couple of years.

you do know that the $199 tickets are for 1 park a day and you need to use a day at each park no twice at same park.

It does not sound like the special $199 DVC ticket will work for your family. That ticket does not allow hopping and you must visit each park once. No repeating parks with that ticket. If you upgrade it, it is only good for what you paid - no bridging. And you can only reserve FP+ for the number of days on your ticket.

Given what you have posted, consider the DVC AP, especially if you will return within a year. Compare the DVC AP price with the 8 day hopper and and see what will work best for you. Hopping is allowed for APs.

Thanks everyone- you are always a great resource - and now I see I have to number crunch Tables in Wonderland to see if its economical too:)

Are these tickets ($199 deal) offered every year?

I purchased them & they worked out great for my plans. The only problem is they would only except 2 forms of payments. The Vacation Club Account can be used, but when I tried to use mine with my VISA %100 was charged to my VISA and nothing deducted from my Vacation account & member services said they can't fix it to ask Guest Relations. Guest Relations said member services would need to fix it.

I don't know what a vacation club account is but this is the first offering ever of these tickets. Where is goes from here, none of us knows.
