Park tickets on room key?

Since becoming members, we have bought our park tickets off property. Every time, it seems like a pain in the drain to have two things to keep track of... the park ticket and room key.

DH says he thinks you can link the ticket with our key even if we purchase off property. Is this true? Where can we find the documentation to back this up?

My thought was to purchase our tickets from the front desk when we check-in, but DH says it is still not attached to our room key.

Any thoughts? :confused3

How would I link my tickets to the room key? Take the paper tickets to the front desk or will Undercover Tourist simply link them beforehand?

We were at OKW at the end of May. DW and I purchased AP's but DS, DD and DDbf had 6 day tickets previously purchased from UT that were sent to our home. After check in, we went to the Customer Service counter and they linked our UT tickets to our KTTW for DS, DD and DDbf. They also linked our credit card to these 3 at our request. You do not have to do give each KTTW charging privileges. The whole process took less than 5 minutes. We took pics with a cell phone of the UT tickets before applying them to the KTTW and pics also of the KTTW after we received them in case we lost them.

As for carrying numerous cards (i.e. KKTW, credit, ID, and AP) I put them all in the little "wallet" they give you with the AP, and that goes either in a pocket or a lanyard pocket. It's no big deal to carry the extra stuff.

We've never done this either, but it made me wonder what about park tickets during a split stay. For example: We stayed six nights at AKV and six nights at OKW and had a 10 day ticket. Would AKV put five days on their key and then one would have OKW put the other five on? I too have been leary about having everything on one, but wondered about this scenario.

No, the entire 10 day ticket would be on one room key. It is rare that tickets, once used, are transferred to a room key. In fact, I've heard it is tricky to transfer used tickets in the computer system and resort CMs are not supposed to do so.

That is another reason we like to keep our tickets seperate from our room keys. We put the old ones(room keys) in our vacation scrap book. We have been purchasing the 10 day park hopper tickets from Undercover Tourist. These so called paper tickets are very durable. We are on our 3rd visit with them and they still look like new. Maybe its just that once we use them they go right back into our fanny packs...smjj

We did a cruise last February, and stayed at WDW before and after the cruise. We had 7-day park hoppers from UT, and the tickets got put on our first resort room key with no problem.

After the cruise, I asked if the tickets on our first resort room keys could be transferred to the second resort room keys. What a disaster! It took over an hour for the CM to get everything straightened out. They actually "lost" our tickets in the system at one point, and had to reissue brand new 4-day park hopper tickets and put those on the new room keys.

I would have been ticked off if we had run low on Water Park admissions, because we hadn't used all of our entitlements from the first three days of our our original 7-day park hopper, but it wasn't an issue.

The CM actually gave us a $50 resort credit for being so patient.

So anyway, your advice is good, Chuck. It's a bad idea to try to transfer partially used tickets to a room key.

Yeah, we also do that but its just one less hassle to deal with if one card gets lost and so to speak, "our eggs are in one basket"...smjj

However, since most of have the tickets and KTTW in the same place, they'd probably both get lost anyway. ;)

if we have annual passes, what do we need to do to enter the EMH? Also, since we are DVC members with annual passes, there is no way to link the room key to the pass, right? We will have to keep the room key, the AP and the TIW card all separate? :confused3

You will need to show your room key along with your AP. APs cannot be encoded onto a room key, there is too much additional info printed on the AP that a CM needs to see if the turnstile computer go down. Also, your TiW card is separate.

We have annual passes and in February did not need to show our KTTW at EMH, which we did practically every day. We did have our KTTW with us but it was never requested. I've noticed this lack of required proof several times in the past year. I couldn't figure out how the CM's knew the guest was staying on property. I guess they figure if you can get to the park that early you are staying on property. Maybe they prevent guests from entering the parking lot if they are paying parking during EMH.
