Does anyone have experience with the park strollers and how well they cover from the sun? I have an awesome lightweight stroller that we always bring, big basket, cup holder, etc. But, the sun shade isn't really good for good sun coverage. And in June, we are going to need it.

I also have a deluxe type stroller that would be AWESOME, as the shade is big and moves anywhere I want it to....but it is SO bulky and I just can't see bringing it on the shuttles, kwim? I will be alone at times, going back to the resort with my then 20 month old and there is no way I could deal with it.

I would love to just get a double park stroller for my two girls, but if they don't have good sun coverage for the little one (not as worried about the older one (5) being exposed too much), then I need to bring my own.

Any thoughts!

I would not say the strollers at Disney have great sun coverage. I'm thinking specifically of the ones at AK, but also the other parks. I would definitely bring one you know is going to be reliable, since (as you know!) June is going to be hot and bright.

I always bring my own, disney strollers don't offer too much coverage and they're hard -backed non reclinable seats. Not very comfortable.

Hmm, that's a toughie. I would say bring your nice stroller because the rentals aren't all that great with sun coverage- only a little part comes over the top so unless the child is laying way back in it- that's a no go.

ALSO with a 20mth old- I personally would NOT use the park strollers- and here's why... they are low to the ground and I did not notice a way (was there even straps in there??) to make sure the young child wouldn't just jump out and get trampled by either the stroller or others. We took our stroller with us- but the last trip we used a park stroller one day because our stroller was like you described- bulky- but our youngest wasn't 20mth old... she was 3 and old enough to know not to jump out of the stroller while it was moving. Yanno?

With that said- I think you are going to have some difficulties manuevering in the buses or monorails with that big bulky stroller by yourself with a 20mth old. Unless you can handle the stroller with one hand and your 20mth old can just hold your other hand to get in/out of the bus. I had a REAL hard time the one time I went back to the resort without my husband, with my then barely 3yr old. It would have been easier if she hadn't fell asleep. I liked to killed us both (kidding ofcourse) trying to carry her while getting that big stroller on/off the bus. Actually I had to ask for the help from a nice gentleman to get off while holding her asleep! I think it would have been hard with just the two of us and that stroller even if she'd been awake- since I couldn't just let her go up/down off the bus by herself without even holding her hand.

Hmm... so that is a toughie. I think you're probably going to wish you brought it, but I think you are going to have a hard time going back to the resort/using transportation with just yourself, stroller and child. :(

We are taking a lightweight one hand collabsible stroller with us for a 16 mo old in April. 2 reasons:

1. The rental strollers are hard and do not recline.
2. At most parks it is a hike to get from the stroller depot to the bus stop. Then if you have to wait for the bus your having to hold the baby the whole time if the baby is tired. Which at the end of a long day they usually are tired and so are you.

Yeah, reality hit me there last night with this...not having a stroller after I gave it back IN the park. So, off stroller shopping I go. I need a lightweight with a nice movable sun shade that gives good coverage. I hope I find one. My very nice one, that would work great, doesn't have a look anymore, so I couldn't one hand it.

I have been looking for a stroller also and have decided on a Maclaren Triumph because it is lightweight, collapses very small with a carrying strap that you can put on your shoulder. THey are a little pricey but they manuever so well one handed. Good luck.
