Park Reservations Question

As you can see by my signature, I've been to WDW a lot...but this June I'll be in Disneyland for a long-awaited return (it's been 50 years for me!).

We have 5-day park hoppers so plenty of time to enjoy the parks...and right now, both parks are available all days of my trip to be the 'starting' park. I know we can hop at 11am...but wondering if I should really make sure I have at least one park reserved each day before we arrive, or if I can wait until much closer (even night before) to make that reservation?

Just how soon do park reservations fill up?

Make reservations as soon as possible. Then if you want to switch later AND that day is available you can swap it. I've found that unless you want to rope drop or have breakfast reservations at a certain park, it's best to just alternate days. And don't wait on reservations.

They aren't likely to fill, but they can. I would make reservations as soon as possible. You can change your park reservations the night before if there are still openings.

When in June are you planning on visiting? June 12 is the last day of the Costco ticket offer and might impact reservation availability for the week prior. Here are other events happening in June.

June
June 1-30 Disneyland 70th
June 3, 5, 7, 10, 12 Grad Nites
June 4 Last day of Enchant MK before being blocked for summer
June 12 Last day of Costco ticket offer
June 16, 18 Pride Nite
June 19 Juneteenth
June 19 Disney On The Yard (Downtown Disney)
June 21 Father’s Day
June 25-27 VidCon

The only date that impacts us is June 16...our dates are June 13-18.

I'll go ahead and get reservations on the books for all our days and follow the advice to check if we want to make changes last minute. Thanks!!

Start at least 3 days in DL. There's simply far more to experience there, and much of it without LL (so ideal for morning touring). With 5 day tickets, I honestly might start 4 of my days at DL.

Since we just used the California resident ticket, also learned there may be a "pool" of reservations related to type of ticket. It probably doesn't matter but if it's a certain type of ticket be sure you're also checking the correct reservation calendar for it. For example our reservation calendar had no openings left but the general calendar had plenty remaining. We just wouldn't have been able to use those.

Great points. Regular priced multiday tickets should almost always have availability. I've been able to change my starting park the night before in the past.

Make your reservations now, do not wait. I would not take a chance that for some reason the reservations fill up and lock you out. With a five day hopper I would do DL/DCA/DL/DCA/DL. You can always change them later, if new reservations are still available.
