Park report: Buzz scoring still isn't 100% + park pics

While several of my scores came through today, a few didn't. One incident was particularly irksome. I'd broken 2M on one gun and scored 845,600 on the other. Those didn't come through at all. However, on my third game, I scored 2,056,400 and that did come through, thankfully. At one point, I had the top four scores (and probably a few others) but, again, scoring still isn't coming through 100% so I wasn't always allowed to claim credit. However, it seems to be better than it's been over the past several weeks, so that's good :-).

I made rope drop and would have been first on PP except that the cheater pictured below sprinted the entire way there, despite repeated requests from CMs to stop. There are few things that annoy me more than runners at rope drop. But I can only control my own behavior...

Folks: this is what a cheater looks like (saw him about half an hour after rope drop).

It would only take a couple security stationed on Main St and a couple more at the entrance to the castle to put a stop to that nonsense. Got a runner? Security can yell a warning and if they keep running security at the castle can stop them for a nice, lengthy chat in full view of everyone else about the importance of park rules and what violating them can result in. Such a simple fix!

Great post!
I wish security would address those types and just walk them back out of the park. But I rarely see any security action any more.

So do I! One of the problems with runners is that when one runs, it can trigger others to run. I was ahead of him at rope drop but in the seconds after, he essentially cuts in front of me by running. I was still second on the ride but I that's beside the point. I hate the idea of others cheating; thinking they're better than all of the other guests. That's what running/line cutting is. CMs yelled a few times for him to stop but of course he ignored them. I wonder if Disney has considered all of their options and decided that, on balance, it's best to say nothing. Maybe they've tried stopping them in the past and it simply led to bigger problems. Who knows? But I really wish they'd do something about it.

A few more pics:

On the right side of the hub about six minutes before rope drop.

I'm aware that I often post a variation of this pic but it's one of my favs :-).

This was the ride on which I broke 2M on the right gun and 845,600 on the left.

Rob and Redd. She said she thought that sounded like a good combination. I agreed.

Yesterday we saw a man flat running down Main Street at the beginning of MM. His 9ish year old son was running with him. A CM called at him to please stop running multiple times but they just kept going and the CM shook his head and walked off.

I then told my husband that is why I would get fired from Disneyland if I were a CM... Because I would have grabbed him by the ear and marched his booty back to the front gate and said, "Let's try this again, the right way."

I get being excited to get on the rides, but there really is no need to run. If you are at rope drop, and walk fast, you will most likely have 0-10 minute wait on your first ride..

Maybe I’m just too lazy to exert that much energy so early in the day lol

I have to ask...

How does one achieve such incredible scores? I haven't been to Disneyland for about 16 years . Are there certain places I should concentrate my aim on as I go through? Because... That is fantastic.

I'd love to "blow away" my DFIL. He's super-competitive and it would be hilarious!

Haha I asked the same thing. He wouldn’t give up his secrets. But he did send us maps a couple of months ago which was the coolest thing ever. So he still gets an A+ in my book!

“See kids- actions speak louder than words!”

Awesome pix as always, Rob. I was amused to see Tiana - that CM has been Tiana for YEARS. We first met her in 2015, and I don't think that was her first rodeo. It's like one of the Tinkerbells - she's been doing it for quite some time - we have pix of her from a number of trips. That makes me happy to see.

@WonkaKid we came off buzz right after you this morning and I saw you snapping pics of your scores. Wondered if that was you! Awesome scores! I don’t know how you do it!!

We only rode once and I only got 20k but I’m not entirely sure my blaster was right lol.

I think there should be a penalty for cheaters like maybe a 15 minute time out. Enough time for a lot of people to get past them, as well as time to reflect on the error of their ways.

I believe I've posted these before, but here are some of my top Buzz scoring tips, in no particular order:

· Only ever shoot diamonds (5,000 points) and triangles (10,000 points – 50,000 when lit). As I explained to two girls in line behind me yesterday, shooting one triangle is the scoring equivalent to shooting 100 circles. Don’t waste time on circles.

· Shoot targets multiple times, not just once. I often leave the first room with 250,000 – 300,000 points.

· If you’re having trouble hitting targets, take a moment to shoot at a blank wall to determine if your gun is shooting high, low or to one side. Often times that’s the key. Not all guns are created equal ;-).

· Make a note of where the triangle targets are and go for them as much as possible. For example, in the second to last room (where the second Zurg is), there’s one behind you as you near the exit. You have to shoot the circle to make it pop up. That alone -- hitting it ten times -- should earn players at least 100,000 points.

· This won’t be an issue for most players, but be aware that if you exceed approximately 2,096,000, your score will reset and you’ll lose everything. This happens to me regularly and it’s very frustrating. The challenge with this is that once you exceed 1M points, the ride display will read 999999. You’ll need to keep track (or try to) in your head. This has been an issue for the past 18 months or so. I’ve raised it with Disney a few times but I think it unlikely that they’ll ever fix it. I believe this was an intentional change so that lesser-scoring players wouldn’t get discouraged by players that score 2M+.

· On a related note, scores above 1M will only display at the photo kiosks at the ride exit. Lately there have been problems with scores flowing through with pictures. I’ve also raised this issue with Disney and it seems to be improving.

Hope these help!

The next time you see me, please say hello! It's always nice to run into people from the board :-).
