Park Pet Peeves

I guess it is too general to say "people acting rude".
More specifically, people running/pushing to get to the front of a line/show/etc.
People smoking outside of the designated smoking areas (it isn't that hard to find the designated areas. And some places I see people smoking are very obviously not allowed). Wish this rule was enforced more at the parks.
People in larger groups standing around and blocking traffic-ways.

Most of my pet peeves are just things you have to deal with when there are large crowds, but overall the positive experiences far outweigh the occasional annoyances.

Resort buses are often crowded and people often stand. My pet peeve is that small children take up seats while senior citizens have to stand in the aisle of the bus. Small children can sit on laps. Very rarely have I seen anyone give up a seat to an elderly person or a parent carrying a sleeping child. I think bus drivers should make announcements about this.

Kind of like parents holding onto 10 kids boarding the buses late at night. They enter a crowded bus and think everyone should immediately rise out of their seats so them and their 10 kids can all have a comfy seat. Always cracks me up... And then the look of bewilderment and confusion on their faces when nobody gets up is absolutely classic..
hahahahaha :lmao: your so right. and it is hilarious.

Yup, i totally agree! i'd much sooner give up my seat for an elder/prego, or a parent carrying a sleeping child than anyone else.

i know ppl will yell about this but i dont care...

i hate it when ppl with kids or ppl in wheelchairs think they should get special treatment because they have kids or are in a wheelchair. like getting on buses first, having to give up seats on the bus for them, cutting in line, getting ran over by them, etc

The reason why wheelchairs are loaded first is two fold...the first is that it is safer to do so, particularly in vehicles with chair lifts and second if the bus were already loaded beforehand do you have any idea how much longer it would take to bring the wheelchair aboard? I didn't think so.

I cannot speak for the families with kids and frankly I couldn't care less about whether or not they stand or sit. But lumping them in with people in wheelchairs is a severe lack of understanding, sympathy or concern about other people. I can only hope that you never find yourself in that situation...you will understand really quickly then.

I have actually witnessed parents (on a couple of occasions) cussing out everyone on the bus cause nobody would get up to give their kid a seat. This is the entitlement im talking about that drives me nuts. That is beyond rude. What makes your kid far more superior to everyone else? just rude.

Someone posted how polite the people are at Tokyo Disney Resort, my daughter has been there 4 or 5 times and says the same thing. Also she said strollers are not permitted in the parks there.

WHAAAAT? no strollers at all in DL tokyo? Wow. :scared1:

I am thinking now that this may have changed as I went to the Tokyo Disney Resort site and they say they rent them. I will have to ask my daughter if this is something new. She said everyone is so polite there, and everything is so clean. It is like the way WDW was many years ago.

People who stand in line for 10 minutes at a cs restaurant and then wait until they get to the front of the line to decide what they want. So then they take another 5 or 10 minutes trying to figure out what everyone in their group wants, while the rest of us have to wait on them.

Decide before you step up to the register. Its not that hard of a concept.

I KNOW this is not the case with 99% of these people - but my DH has a TBI (traumatic brain injury) and he will know exactly what he wants then he gets to where he orders and his brain goes blank - it drives me nuts even though I know he can't help it.

awww poor guy. This is exactly why i shouldnt be so impatient with ppl sometimes. cause you just never know. Although you know ppl are just being inconsiderate when the lady/man in front of you is shouting at their kids across the room "hey kids...what did you want to eat? come on hurry up, im holding up the line". Like seriously!? (true story btw).

If there is a long line I usually have him tell me what he wants before we get to the front so I order for him - sit down restaurants are the same - most waiters start with me or the kids then go to him - by the time they get to him he has forgotten what he was going to order...

I'm really amazed at some of the people defending putting their kids on their shoulders. To do so while viewing a show and standing in front of other people, is, in my opinion, astoundingly rude.

The argument that they are not doing it to be rude is mute - why on earth would that make a difference?

People who happen to be tall cannot help it, but you sure as heck do not have to lift your child onto your shoulders. You COULD hold the child at your eye level, it's just more work. So really what you're saying is that you're too lazy to hold your child appropriately.

Would these people think it OK for me to bring a step stool, and climb up on it just after the show starts? I'm short after all, I can't really see. And I wouldn't be doing it to purposely block their view.

This must be a sign of the times and the total loss of respect for others in society.

Thanks goodness these oafs only make a up a tiny percentage of WDW guests!

:thumbsup2 And this was one of the reasons why a while back I gave up on Disney transportation and just started renting a car. Saves the hassle.

Pet peeve: griping because you didn't get magically upgraded to the next class of rooms and then yelling at the cast member about it. If you wanted water/river/whatever view, you should have booked it. You are now the reason why there are 12 different types of resort rooms in the system.

Pet peeve: Being mad and yelling at everyone in sight because we actually took the time to find out about the ADR system and made reservations (and no, some were not 180+ days in advance) and you did not and now cannot use your free dining credits where you want. Saw that MANY times during our trip last October- lots of people extremely upset in MK because they couldn't eat anywhere that was a TS because they didn't have an ADR, and free dining had been extended.

Pet peeve: People being mad and getting upset not only at the CMs but at the party go-ers when you are being escorted out of the party and shops after 7 during MNSSHP. The announcements were being made at least every 15 minutes from 6 p.m. on, because I was in the park then. There were signs up all day, because I've seen them up all week. You knew it was closing. You don't have to start yelling about how it must be nice that THOSE people have an extra $$$$ to spend to enjoy time in the parks, or that the shops are only open for the RICH people. Again, happened during our October trip, more than once during the first hour of MNSSHP.

It's MOOT.

O.K. I said I was done earlier with this thread but I lied. I'll be at the "Happiest Place On Earth" Feb. 25 - March 1 and the first thing I'm going to do is bum a cigarette from someone in the smoking section even though I don't smoke and blow smoke on Main Street. Then I'm going to stop in the middle of Main Street and take a picture of the Castle and make people move around me (oooooh) then I'm going to have lunch in Tomorrow Land at a quick service but I'm going to take a long time ordering judt to annoy YOU! And when the fire works start I'm going to make sure that the dad that wants his kid on his shoulders gets a damn good spot.

To the idiot that says wa wa wa "why do you go on this thread if you don't like it" I say, I have no freaking idea. I just started I have 5 posts, you have 5000 posts, nuf said. I love Disney and thought this would be a cool way to share that love with others but geeeese you people are pathetic yep, pathetic. I said it. wa wa wa wa wa

Wow. Someone's wearing their grumpy pants today... Lady if you dislike this thread that much, then just stop clicking on it. The Disboards are an open, public forum and providing that rules of conduct are not broken, anyone can say whatever they freakin' feel like. In case you have forgotten, this thread is about pet peeves. And by the way, calling people names is frowned upon on this site. No one here is an idiot. Present company excluded.
