Park Pass System/ADR confusion

I'm sure this has been answered somewhere, however after my search I came up questioning still. Starting to think about and write out ADR plans for my August trip and I'm totally confused with the park pass system.

I know that I can park hop, when there is availability after 2, but my question is this- do I make a dinner ADR for the park that I have reserved a park pass for or do I take a chance and make a dinner ADR for a park that I intend to park hop to? Also If I want to take a break midday and go back to my reserved park, will I be able to get back in with no issue for my ADR?

I feel like there's a lot of uncertainty and for most, if not all, of us here, we are very detail-orientated, plan by the minute and rely on certainty type of Disney planners, so I'm going a little nutty. Thanks for your help!

Making an ADR for a hop-to park is risky. You may not make it. But no one has reported being turned away from the second park. Your decision to gamble; part of that being whether there is a 24-hr hour advance cancellation or pay Penalty.

Yes, you can return to your reserved park. It’s yours for the day.

You can always leave and re-enter your reserved park, no issue there. As far hopping to a dining reservation, I think it’s very low risk. As of yet no one has been turned away from hopping. And if on the off chance you were denied, I have a strong feeling Disney would waive the no show fee.

Ok cool, thanks for the replies! Seems like it's the best bet to make ADRs in my reserved park. :)

Actually, there is almost zero risk because there has not been a single report of anyone being denied entry to a park when park hopping since resuming in January, including days when the park reservation system has a park at capacity.
We park hopped the week January 1st with heavy crowds no problem and there were no hopping problems during President’s Day week.

Well that’s not really what I said lol. I think you’re totally fine to make ADRs in your later park.

From the poster ahead of you, I had figured there might be some risk involved, so that's why I said that, but thank you- I am happy to know that I'd be fine doing either. :-)

We had ADR’s in a different park from our reserved park on most nights and never had a problem hopping last week.

Good to know, thank you!!

Ok, I was worried during more crowded time like that, so that's great to know about President's Day week, thank you!
