Park Model RV

My in-laws have one. They spend their winters in a 55 and up adult community and most of the people there have park models. My in-laws just got theirs a couple of years ago. Before that they were driving their 5th wheel camper to and from every year. It got to be too much, so they finally just bought a park model. It is very nice, and is more "permanent" than just a 5th wheel camper. They built a nice, large deck for it so they have a nice area for entertaining/sitting. And some build "Florida rooms" onto them as well, to have more living space.

To the above poster, when you have been there does it feel more home like or do you still feel like you are in a camper? Not really a camper here, but am looking to have our place rather than going to inlaws cottages and dealing with family drama of who gets what bedroom, and right now a park model is more in my budget than a cottage. I see you are in Michigan, we go to Saugatuck for inlaws cottage, love it there.

We know several people that have them in retirement communities in AZ. All like them. All came out of RV's. All are snowbirds.

I think my in-law's park model feels bigger than a camper, more like a small mobile home/trailer. It is wider than a camper, I'm sure. Theirs has a front living room, middle kitchen with dining area, bathroom and bedroom in the back. The couch is a hide-a-bed and there are doors to close off the living room, making it more private for overnight guests.

Maybe you could find out if there is anywhere near you that sells them, then go look at them and see what you think.

I love our 5th wheel camper, but I think a park model is nicer and feels more like a home than a camper.

Oops, I missed your comment about Saugatuck/Michigan, sorry.

It's a lovely area, I've been there a couple of times. I stayed at one of the Bed & Breakfast Inns a few years ago with a bunch of girlfriends. I think it was called Park Place, and at that time they let guests stay in the building with the paddlewheel. That's where we stayed, it was so nice hearing the water all night long. I don't think they let guests stay there now though. :(

We have a 40foot Nomad Park Model. We have had it just over a year and LOVE:love: it.
It has a front kitchen so when you are sitting in the living area you are not facing the stove and such. You have to walk through the bathroom to get to THE (meaning 1) bedroom. It has a triple slide for dining table, couch, end table and chair. Then a slide for the queen size bed. It also has a residential fridge and a glass sliding front door.
Once our 16 year old graduates we will live in it when we move to Florida. And yes we will add Florida room. It is not a "camper".
We just bought an 80 watt solar panel:thumbsup2

Did I mention we :lovestruc it?

Pro, just like home! Has AC, heat, bright, portable. Better than a camp as we can take it where we want to go. Dont have to pack/unpack, we keep it stocked with everything. It is ours, our bed, pillows, scent....
Con, being 40 feet you can not slide it into some sites.
