Park Hoppers & Grand Californian

We have a July stay booked at the Grand California. Currently, they do not allow the direct entry into DCA from the Grand. If we purchase park hopper tickets, we have to choose which park to enter first. If they open up the entry into DCA by the time our trip occurs, does that mean we cannot use that entry on the days that we chose DL as the first park? And any suggestions on how to decide which park to select first for a 4-day visit?

Under the current park reservation system, you are correct. Once you have entered your park choice for the day, you are eligible for hopping later, using whatever access points are available at the time. Choosing which park to start your day is all personal preference based on availability. Have a Magical Trip and Welcome Back!!!

I'm deliberating which parks to start with for a 4-day trip staying at the Grand as well. Right now, How important is Rise of the Resistance for your party? That is pushing me to most mornings at DL to maximize our chances and then one morning at DCA.

I also figure it might be possible to change my park reservations to start at DCA later down the line, but much less likely that DL would still be open for reservations.

Our first day we won't be arriving until after 1 pm, so I'm thinking of changing our reservation to DCA that day just so we can use the entrance (even if we wonder over to DL pretty quickly)

Starting May 28th, the entrance to DCA will only be open to GCH and VGC guests.

I expect the park hopping only after 1 pm to stay/be enforced for a long time to come. Maybe for as long as they keep the park reservation system.

They're still enforcing this at WDW, so as you say, I wouldn't expect this to go away any time soon. I hope it goes away when APs return, but we will have to see what form they (APSs) will take.

My speculation is when the new "membership" debuts, it will require reservations at all levels. It will be a way for Disney to maintain capacity control and do a better job at preplanning for staffing.
