Can park hoppers be added after tickets are purchased? How about after tickets are already in use?
I know the hopper cost the same no matter the length of the ticket, but could
I add the hopper on day three of my trip if I decide I want to hop on that day only?

Yes, you can. But if you think you'll really want to park hop at least once during the trip, I think it's better to add it early.

better, how?
so you can use it thru the whole trip and go back and forth. If you're planning on one day at DL and one at DCA, then last day you want to PH to hit up things you missed or wanted to repeat, I would just buy it up front so that you have that option early on.

It is worth noting that you can only add a park hopper if there are park hopper reservations available for that day and any additional days you have left on the ticket. When you upgrade to add a hopper (which must be done at the ticket booth), you lose your prior reservations and have to make new ones.

I’m not sure what you mean by, ‘only add a park hopper if there are park hopper reservations available.’

We purchased tickets with PH for our Aug trip. We hopped 3 different days and never had a reservation other than for our original park.

You don't make a PH reservation, if you have a PH ticket it's automatic to hop after 1:00

The OP is asking about adding a park hopper option to a ticket that is currently a single park ticket. Single park reservations are different than park hopper reservations. Sometimes single park reservations are available and sometimes park hoppers are available. Sometimes both are available. But when you add a park hopper to a single park ticket it removes all previous reservations attached to it. So they will only let you do it if park hopper reservations are available for your days.

You don’t need a separate reservation to hop, but the reservation “bucket” so to speak is separate for single park tickets and park hopper tickets.

If you toggle between the two options on the reservation calendar you will see different availability.

For instance, right now, one park per day tickets can’t book 9/24 (it’s sold out for that bucket), but park hopper tickets can book that date (if you start in DCA).

The whole reservation calendar is really complicated and annoying.
