Park Hopper Plus Tickets Convention Rate?

Has anyone else done this? I went to the Disney meetings website. We are a group of 12 and I wanted to see if we qualified for a group rate. I filled in the information and was quoted a price for a four day park hopper with 4 admissions to disneyquest for $206. AAA rate for park hopper without disneyquest was $215. The website would not let me order more than 8 tickets, so when I called the number, the CM said the group had to be more than 30 to qualify.

I then went back to the website and ordered 8 and then ordered another 4. I used our name as the group, so I didn't associate with a group I did not belong to. Will they revert back to regular park hoppers, or will I go to jail for trying this, or will we get into disneyquest?

Moderators: if I posted this on the wrong board, I am sorry.

That convention site is a little tricky and confusing. I played around with it and found out you can put almost anything in the blank for "what convention" and get to the purchase page. I even put in n/a and it let me go to the purchase page, all the way to check out. Disney needs to get a handle on that site before everyone finds it and . . . well, you know, saves some $$$. In other words, I don't think anyone knows for sure how that site works and how it is monitored. Sorry, a pretty benign answer, huh???

Royalbear,
Did you hear back from disney? Did they let your order go through? If they let it go through, I don't see a problem with it.
That's their problem and like rlduvall said, Disney needs to get a handle on it if they see it as a problem.

Be sure to not buy more than you need from the site. One of the disclaimers includes:

Tickets Only Valid 10 Days From First Use,

So, while it is a bit cheaper and includes DQ, the days do expire.

I did purchase 12 tickets (two separate purchases). I haven't received them yet, but it has been only two days.

I did know about the expiration, but since this is a once in a lifetime trip (until I can convince everyone otherwise ;) ), I was OK with the limitations. They worked out well for us since my ds and dn who are 11 will absolutely love DQ and everyone else will go to make them happy.

did you get an order confirmation email or any type of response after you placed your order?

I got the confirmation page when I ordered the tickets and then in my email I got a confirmation number, so I figure it must be legit. Still no tickets, but I figure they have enought stuff to worry about right now and I am in no hurry yet.

Royalbear - does the price of $206 includes tax?

Right now, anyone can advance purchase a 4 day park hopper (no plus) for $202 plus tax for a total of $215.13 (10+).

If you are planning to go to DQ and the price includes tax, then you got a little bit of a price break.

That was what was so great, $206 was with tax and 4 admissions to disneyquest or pleasure island (I know the PI thing is different now).

I know it's not a great discount, but when you figure it was for 12 people, it saved us almost $100.

We needed 3 day passes for December and purchased them thru the convention ticket site. We put our Family Name Reunion for the convention name. We got the tickets mailed to us within 1 week.

will you post when you receive yours, please. Just wonder how long it takes.
thanks

After about a month.

It took longer than expected, but I think that may be because I gave them the wrong zip code. When I called to tell them I hadn't received them yet, the CM was really nice and quickly sent out another batch. No questions about the group or anything.
She did make sure I understood about the special considerations (expiration date) of the park hopper.

Has anyone every had a problem using convention tickets? The CM's dont ask when you go thru the gates, do they? We are going with friends in Dec, I know they are planning on using those, we have AP's. Just want to cover ourselves.

With a convention ticket, can you only enter the parks after a certain hour of the day....like 2pm? Or, can you go in at opening and stay until closing?????

There is a specific convention ticket for after 2:00 p.m. that is a little cheaper, but they still have the other regular all day convention tickets. I am so tempted to purchase these because they are sooooo much cheaper, but we really aren't going to a convention and I am kind of chicken to try it; kind of.

Some people are buying a boatload of these and selling them at a premium on ebay. they are making a killing!!!!

I bought the 2 day park hopper (plus 1 DisneyQuest or Pleasure Island admission) for a wedding I'm going to. Weddings and conventions are treated as the same in terms of these special rate tickets. When I called to make a hotel reservation through group reservations (no deposit required, and a cheaper rate!), I asked the lady if she knew anything about tickets and whether I would run into any trouble, having ordered the tickets a few days before I made my hotel reservation. She thought I might run into trouble... that the ticket people check to make sure you have a reservation associated with a wedding/convention and call you if you don't.

Well, I didn't have any trouble, and I received the tickets so quickly that I feel they must have filled the order immediately, before I made the hotel reservation.
