Park hopper pass-I screwed up!

I had 2 new 7 day park hopper plus passes (l adult and l child -the old style park hoppers, not magic your way). When we returned last week from a trip with our 8 year old grandson, I realized that I had taken the adult pass for him instead of the child pass. (DH and I both have annual passes). So now we have used up 4 days from an adult pass and I have the child pass left which was not my intention. Is there anything I can do now or am I just out of luck? I can't believe I did that!!

I was also surprised that they are scanning fingers with the old style passes. I knew they scanned with the new magic your way passes, but thought the old passes would remain the same. Very important now to keep track of who used which pass in the family.

Maybe you'll just have to take him again before he turns 9, just so you can use up that child ticket!
It is my understanding that you can upgrade your tickets from the old style to the new style Magic Your Way passes. I know that this doesn't help your situation now but perhaps when he does turn 9 you can upgrade that child pass into an adult pass for him to use then.

Here is how it works...
If you use even one day of a hopper, you can upgrade it to an adult pass as long as the first day was used while the child was actually under 10. The upgrade is free. We just did it with my son. This applies to passes forever. So technically we should all buy passes for our kids, enough for them to use for their lifetime!!

Well, to be precise, Disney doesn't promise that. They reserve the right to charge for the upgrade. They've simply been consistently generous, up to now, and probably will continue to generously upgrade passes without charge, as long as the practice doesn't become commonplace.

Thanks. I will just use the remaining child pass for his little sister when she gets older and it is her turn to go. It just irks me to have paid the adult price for a pass that was used for a child. I always try to be so careful with our passes, but somehow just grabbed the wrong one this time. Lesson learned!!
