Park Hopper on Room Key

I am pretty sure that is how they do it. I know that is what they do if you are getting a package.

Sure, it's easy. Just give the CM your hopper at check-in (before he codes your keys!) and he'll add it to your KTTW card.

However, I always advise against this, because the KTTW cards demagnetize a lot more than the Tyvec park passes, and if the card demagnetizes while you're at one of te parks, you have to go all the way back to your resort to get a new KTTW card. This can be a royal pain.

Don't worry, carrying two cards instead of one isn't that heavy.

We've always booked a package so one key. But this coming trip I bought our
hopper passes thru Undercover Tourist. So when I get to Disney I will be combing our tickets. It is so much easier & I have never has one demagnetize. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I think it is easier to just have one card to. We did have ours demagnetize once, we were able to get into the park, but they told us to have it looked into when we got back to our resort. When we went back at the end of the day, they CM told us that since we had stored our key/ticket in a pocket with our cell phone that is why it demagnetized. So just as a heads up, don't put your cell phone and ticket in the same area.

Wow! I cant believe that it demagnitizes so easily. I guess I'll just keep it separate.

They tell everybody that cell phone story. But I think it's a bunch of hooey.

Plenty of people who have never put their KTTW cards anywhere near a cell phone or other electrical device have had their cards demagnetize. There are many threads on the subject, discussing it at length.

My personal opinion is that it's not the cell phones, radios, cameras, hearing aids, or watches that are most at fault - it's static electricity.

Static is everywhere, and it get generated most often through friction. Putting your KTTW card in your pocket, whether there's a phone in there or not, makes it more likely to be affected by static discharge as you walk. And those magnetic strips are sensitive enough to be affected by static that's too mild for a person to even notice, making it possible to pull out your KTTW card after a stroll from the monorail to the gates and have it fail to work.

The best advice I can give anybody is to get a plastic neck lanyard. In all my trips to WDW over the last 6 years, I have kept my KTTW cards, park passes, hotel keys from off-site hotels, and all sorts of other magnetic cards in my neck lanyard, and have only had one demagnetize (an off-site hotel key).

Can you do this with APs? And, would you want to? Not that the passes are heavy...just sounds cool.

No, you can't code an AP onto your KTTW card. You can only have MYW passes added to it.

Along these lines is it possible if you have a pkg booked to have your passes seperate from your room key and dining credits? Last trip was our first on a pkg and I found it more difficult having it all on one than separate. I always carry the passes and obtain all the FPs but found the need to keep passing them out when dh or others wanted to get a snack or would go get all the counter svc while I found a table with the kids.

Possible?

We have put our passes on room keys on the past 3 trips and never had a problem. We keep them in lanyards or plastic bags so maybe that is why.

I have what may be a couple of silly questions.

When the CM makes the transfer to your KTTW card, does it reduce the number of days on your Park Hopper pass? I am just trying to figure out how this works.

Also, can the CM transfer the # of days you need all at once, or do you need to stop by the front desk each day?

Thanks.

It sure is. In fact, we didn't even know you could do anything different! when we checked in they automatically put our hopper and food credits on our key and it was so easy to do everything with just that one key! check it out! and if you by some chance lose a key, it's really easy to get another one...they just go on the computer and look up what you've used and what's left they put on your new card. Where do you get lanyards, and it's something you wear around your neck all day, isn't that annoying?

The entire hopper will be coded onto your room key at once, and you will not lose anything - it's a simple transfer.

I get mine from WalMart for 97 cents. It's got a very comfortable lanyard that doesn't bother me much at all, but keeps my various cards in an easy to reach spot.
