Park Hopper and Waterparks

Ok, I'm new to all this Disney stuff but we have decided to take our first trip there this summer. We will probably get a 5-day pass and I would like to add the waterparks option. Are you required to have a park hopper pass to go to Typhoon Lagoon and Magic Kingdom in the same day, or does the park hopper apply to the four main parks only?

The general answer is that the park hopping feature applies only to the 4 major parks. The water parks fall under the "plus" option. With the new ticket struture, you really can do what every you want.

This is what I believe price options are for you

5 day advance adult ticket expires / no expiration
Park hopper/no plus $235 / $273
Park hopper/ 3 plus options $283 / $320
Single day water park $36

If the water park is the only only plus option you want, I would probably stick to the hopper with no plus options and buy single day tix for the water park. Unless, of course, you want a 5 day hopper that does not expire - then add the plus option since the plus options will not expire either.

Regardless of whether you purchased hopping or not:

Blizzard Beach in the morning, leave for lunch, come back -- Consumes one plus.
Blizzard Beach in the morning, Typhoon Lagoon in the afternoon -- Consumes two plusses.
Blizzard Beach in the afternoon, come back the next day -- Consumes two plusses.
Magic Kingdom in the morning, Blizzard Beach in the afternoon -- Consumes one day and one plus.

On a day where you use one or more plusses but do not go into a major theme park, you do not consume "a day".
