When is the latest you can add the Park hopper add on ? Im debating it and just have not decided if I should get it or not. TIA:goodvibes

I'm thinking the same thing. In the past year we haven't used them. But this year the MK closes at 7pm 3 times and AK at 5pm. Since we are gonig for 10 days I thought we may get use out of them.

But I'm not sure I think you can do it once you arrive. But maybe someone knows for sure?

You can add them at any time, but it would be best to add them after you have used the tickets at least once.

I can help, I just called about this yesterday. We arrive on Friday. I already checked in online even. They said that I could stop by any ticket counter after we checked in and they could add. I am not sure if they can still add it after we visit a park or not, I will find that out when I get there.

You can add it at anytime, even if you have used part of the ticket. You can take the ticket to any ticket counter and they can take care of it. That being said, it costs $52 dollars per ticket no matter when you do it. Doing at the beginning of the trip would be more cost effective than later. Hope this helps.

Just to clarify. . .

Its $52 dollars per ticket whether you have 2 day or 10 day tickets. Obviously the better value is for the longer stay. I prefer park hoppers because I like to do a park in the morning and swim in the afternoon. Then I will do a different park at night.

And just to clarify a bit further: As of Thursday, August 5, 2010, it's $54 + tax no matter when you add it.

I made a reservation for December, I happened to be speaking with a supervisor due to a problem with my pin. She told me if I want to add a park hopper, I should do it more than 15 days prior to arrival. She said if I wait until last minute, there is an extra charge (I believe she said $15 per person)
I have no reason to believe she would make that up, but I do not know for sure. I purchased the hopper anyway because we are staying at BC and I want the option of visiting Epcot everyday.

That's the first I have ever heard of this and I don't believe it to be true.

The Park Hopper option can be added any time prior to use or any time within the first 14 days after first use (this is true for both expiring and non-expiring tickets). This can be done at any Disney resort, park ticket booth (including water parks) or any guest services location at a park or in DTD. You will pay the full add-on price regardless of whether or not you are adding the feature to a one-day ticket or a 10-day ticket. I'm not sure if it makes any difference, in this case, whether you use the ticket first or not.

OK Color me confused:confused3. Everything that I have read on the DIS is contrary to this, that it can be added right up until any time that you want. In fact there is a whole thread dedicated to ticket questions. The link escapes me at the moment, but it states the same thing... add when you would like. (No more than 14 days after first use, baring any exceptions).

So, I understand, and it is good to know that park hopper is going to cost an additional 2$ pp come Thursday. Mind you it's only 6$ total for my trip, but we'll see.

If I am completely off my rocker  please, let us know.

I just want to be clear on my earlier post, I was not addressing 'when' you can add the hopper or how long it is valid.
What the Supervisor said to me is, that there is a flat charge on your bill if you add the hopper within 15 days of your visit. I am reluctant to say her name because she was very helpful and actually was able to get us a discount on a day that the system was not taking our pin. She said a lot of people do not notice the charge because it is not listed as the 'price' of the hopper, it is an additional fee on the bill. Perhaps this only effects people with pins/packages???
Again, I only heard this from her and it is not going to effect me anyway. I just can't imagine why she would make that up. (This will be our fifth consecutive year visiting Disney and we always get the hopper, so I don't think she was to try to hike up the price on us by trying to get me to commit to purchasing the hopper early)
Just trying to be helpful, if you add it late, check your bill and you can let everyone know.
Have a nice trip anyway!

There is a charge to make a change to any package reservation within 15 days of travel. Upgrading avoids the $50 revision fee that would apply if your package change lowered your price anytime within 45 days, but they still have a $10 fee, tomorrow increased to $15 for last minute changes, even upgrades. They've been more strict about not waiving these fees in the last year or so. For package reductions within 15 days you'd get hit with $65 for both fees.

If your change is within 15 days of your trip, just add the PH when you are on site, after using your ticket at least once (to bring it to the current new price). The add on will cost you $54 plus tax, but it avoids the last minute package change fee. If your trip is beyond the 15 day window, add the PH today and it will cost $52 plus tax per ticket.

It's not a charge to make your ticket a PH, it's a charge for any package changes within 15 days. I had a client make an even change on her package a few days before her trip (YC to BC, same price) and she was charged $10 (soon to be $15) for the change.

If you wait until you're at Disney to add your PH, you can do it up to the last day on your ticket, but won't save any $$. PH can be added anytime for a flat rate when you need to have it. If you're on the fence you can wait until you need to hop.

I've never heard of that anywhere on here and these guys know EVERYTHING! However, the easiest way to avoid any fees is to just add the hopper at a ticket window and charge it to your KTTW card.

we have always gotten the hopper and loved them. we go early to the rides we know will have long lines and then get fast pass for another ride later. We go to another park to eat later that night and enjoy fireworks. love park hoppers! family of 4

I broke down I added the hopper!! Sad thing is when I read the post about the hopper going up 4 whole dollars:scared1: each person, $12 total I jumped on it and did it tonight! WOW I must be really cheap hahaha! but I did ask the AWESOME CM I spoke to and she said they can be added at anytime with no added fee other than the cost of the hopper! You can add it the last day of the trip she said (not that anyone would do that :rotfl:).So problem solved! Thank you everyone for your helpful input!

after using your ticket at least once (to bring it to the current new price).

.

I plan to upgrade our tickets to PH once we arrive, because we are leaving this Friday. Could you please explain why it's important to use the tickets at least once before we upgrade? I'm confused. tia!

If you're just adding PH, it really doesn't matter because it's a flat fee and will cost $54 regardless of the original or new price of your ticket. But if you want to add days, it matters.

Let's use some made up numbers (because I don't want to look up the real ones):

You bought your tickets yesterday. They cost $200, without park hopper.

Today, your tickets would cost $210. You want to add days to it, and the new ticket's value is $230.

If you don't use the ticket first, you will be credited, at most, $200, leaving you to pay $30 to upgrade your tickets.

If you do use it first, you will be credited $210, regardless of what you paid or where you bought it from, leaving you to pay only $20 to upgrade your tickets.

Does that help?

Yes, I get it now. Thanks for explaining! I thought it she was saying that I should use the tix at least once before upgrading them to PH.
