Park hair

Pigtails and a cap. My hair actually looks great in Florida, maybe because we have such hard water here. But I get hot and I really need something to shade my eyes so cap and pigtails it is. If I were going to California Grill or someplace like that I would fix up but most places you're just fine in casual clothes/hair.

I have long straight hair.

Two French braids! It's my Disney go-to!! I will do the same for ODD and her 9yo cousin this September.

No ride-induced hair lashings from wind. Always cute in ride pics/other pics. Easy to hairspray a shell to protect integrity. Easy to repair without a brush.

Braids are life. They look cute with Minnie ears too. :earsgirl:

Just remember to sunscreen the part. I forgot that one time at Niagara Falls and OUCH when I got in the shower that night.

I have forgotten to sunscreen my hair-part so many times in my life. I'll probably forget again because that is who I am as a person. :headache:

I have thick, long, curly hair and summer can be killer on my hair! I know that it's not worth it to flat iron or curl it, because it's just going to grow with the humidity and my neck will be covered in sweat.

I tend to do dutch braids or french braids or a messy top knot. If I do flat iron my hair, it'll end up in a ponytail within a few minutes. Sometimes I'll wear a baseball cap, but it usually is too warm for that. Sometimes I start with it down (like after showering) so that there's some natural wave as it dries, but then it gets thrown up and off my neck.

When I was there in February, however, I flat ironed my hair every morning after a night shower and it held nicely!

I have thick, curly hair. I have worn it down a couple of times, and on our last trip, I did half-up once. Normally I just do a side braid though, sometimes a fishtail to make it a little fancier.

My daughter and I always carry some spiral bobby pins, they are awesome. DD has thick curly hair and I have straight hair, both of us have found these are so easy to use for putting our hair up. You can find both sizes on-line. I spiral them together and carry them in my pocket until I need them. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias=beauty&field-keywords=spiral+bobby+pins

Never really paid attention to these before! U got me spending some time on Amazon and now I'll keep my eye out :)

Somebody already mentioned braids. Braids can be your best friend. I do a half up, half down hair-do, with the upper part in two braids wrapped around each other and clamped down with the tiniest size of those plastic hair clamp thingies. It lasts all day and stays in place even if I put a hat on over it. And I have zero talent as a hairstylist.

I started doing this on cruises, where my hair would blow around and go wild and bug me. Braids...total game changer.

Headbands.

My hair is normally wavy and in low humidity looks quite nice - it forms ringlets on its own. In Florida it takes on a life of its own. All of my hair tries to get curlier and repel each other. This happens based on length. So the fine baby hairs along my forehead form tight curls, while my shoulder length hairs fly out and bunch. On top of this, I have facial hyperidrosis, so I spend my time at Disney looking like I just stuck my finger in an electrical outlet and someone threw water on me to try to counteract the current.

Yea, I try not to think about it.

LONG, THICK hair. It used to be stick straight, but now it has some wave to it.

I pigtail (low) braids for WDW. It's quick, easy, and keeps them off my back of my neck, which is where I get super hot.

Trust me, one of the last thing anybody is going to care about when they are looking at photos of you to remember you is your hair.

You say that but unfortunately for me on one pic my hair is the only thing people remembered. My hair was super massive and wavey, even with so much interesting things to see in the photo my hair took center stage. It's still the topic of conversation years on :rotfl:

I usually wear my hair down to start with, but if I'm going on a fast ride I may tie it back temporarily. Honestly, in the summer there's not much for me to do aside from throwing some product in my wet hair and just accepting that it will not be perfect. I tried straightening it one trip in September.... HAHAHAHAHA!

...straightening works okay in the winter though. ;)

Right? ha ha I made that mistake too! I will never waste my time with that again.

My hair is really thick, when I got it cut a few weeks back the poor hairdresser struggled to get her brushes and combs through it. I did warn her though.

If I don't want to wear a hat or have it tied up I have found that scrunching gel can be a bit of a life saver. When my hairs damp in the morning I apply it and scrunch my hair into curls and they stay like that for most the day ( although I have been known to use the misting stations to touch it up lol)

Great thread! I have thick, heavy but fine hair. It does much better at Disney because we have such hard water at home! I would love to see any pics of some of your ideas (I never got that "sock bun" thing down but I love that look!)

Braids! I start with a french braid on my side part and take it all the way around. Put some good quality gel when damp and braid away. The gel helps with those little fly away hairs that drive me crazy. I can keep this style all day and it's off of my face and neck.

On a related subject.... does anyone have issues washing their hair whilst at Disney? No matter what I do it always feels heavy and greasy after washing it. I don't have this problem back at home

OP--where are you from? I live in Houston where the humidity is high, but I can still usually put some kind of style in my thick, wavy, tends-to-be-frizzy hair. While at WDW, forget it! It's going up in a ponytail or twist or something that will work with the natural state of my hair (like scrunching gel someone suggested).

Pics would be great! I usually put DD's hair in a braid and mine in a ponytail. One year i tried to add a little something extra with a bandana. I get so tired of having the same ponytail year after year, and would love to switch it up lol

I have the same type of hair, I feel your pain!

Too hot & humid for anything but a ponytail for this girl!
I HATE the hair on my neck when hot & humid--plus between humidity, misters & water rides, it's either going flat or frizzy.

I look like Rosanne Rosannadanna when it is humid out. I just put my hair up with a hair clip most of the time.

LOL - this is me. The older I get, the curlier it gets. I comb through it in the shower and otherwise don't touch it or I look like Rosanne Rosannadanna.

OP - I don't know when you're traveling but chances it will be hot. I just pull it back into a ponytail because I'm going to sweat so much, styling of any sort isn't really worth the effort.

I haven't seen those spiral bobby pins before - have to pick some up for my daughter.
