Park hair

I have longish thick hair (below the shoulders) and in the hot weather at Disney I have to wear it in a bun or ponytail or it just gets hot and sweaty feeling. Yuck.

In the cooler months, I'll wear it down in my usual style, but rides like Test Track and even Splash Mountain will ruin it, so i make sure to carry a small brush in my bag to fix it. Otherwise, I'll just end up with a ponytail anyway.

Don't forget sunscreen on the ears if you wear it up!

I tend to always like Pony tails for my hair, but I found that at Disney with the Minnie Ear headbands I wear most every day that the pony tail and then headband looked to severe in pictures, so even though it is hot, I tend to just wear it down with the headband.

My hair is curly, below chin/above shoulder length. Summers here in Chicago are humid so I attack Disney the same way.

I wet my hair, use my coconut curl cream and let it dry outside and go crazy! My bangs are the same length as my hair, a touch longer in front than back and if it's really hot/windy, I bobby pin them back.

Big and curly - don't even try to fight it, ha!

I love my short wavy bob that looks pretty cute with a little volumizing product. HOWEVER, step out into ANY humidity or a light mist or sprinkle, it's DUNZO for the hair!!:rainbow: I have resolved myself that WDW and cute hair, for me is OUT OF THE QUESTION! All products melt in the FL heat and humidity so what's the point! :dance3:

Park hair? Don't care! :flower1: I'm there to have fun.

After a quick shower, I put my hair up in a band or braid it (wet, it's dry before i hit the park gates), slap on some waterproof mascara & it's an easy peasy start for am EMH. Hair is usually crowned with a hat by mid-day anyway to keep off the rain/sun.

It's rather liberating, I'm not @ WDW to dress to impress. Comfort & staying as cool as possible is my goal there.

Anyway, I fit right in, goofy is a good look @ WDW!:D

What about a modified Gibson tuck? Super easy, and you can add a cute decorative headband to add some more interest.

Braids, braids, and more braids. I do a lot of side braids, french braids, and pigtail braids. Messy buns are also a nice and easy one to get all your hair out of the way. When I do try to fight the humidity and style my hair, I make sure to use a strong hold hairspray(I used a tresseme one last trip). But I always have a hair tie on my wrist just incase.

Messy bun with Minnie Ears most of the time. I have long hair (no bangs) wavy in back, more curls in front and sides. I totally frizz out in humidity. This style served me well in 2015.

For those of you that do your own braids...how did you learn? I can do them on DD's hair, but not my own. I watched videos, but my fingers go all wonky when i actually try it :sad2:

Practice. I taught myself to French braid my own hair but as soon as I can I pull it over my shoulder. My sister does a braided ponytail right down (and up again, she has really long hair) her back which I cannot do.

I have fine straight hair but it's layered. I put it in a ponytail but the front layers just lay there. I am looking for any tips on what you use on the part to keep your head from burning. Anything I have used leaves the hair that isn't long enough for the ponytail looking limp and greasy.

I have a small sunscreen stick. I use it for my hair parts and for my ears. I burned the tops of my ears once, and boy does that hurt!

Oh, and I bobby pin the front parts of my hair back. My hair sounds much like yours, fine and not exceedingly long. No use messing with it a ton, what curl I put in it (when I try) is almost immediately gone.

My hair is relatively fine, but I have a lot of it. It's naturally wavy and holds a curl or straightens easily. Frizz is not a major concern. At Disney, typically I'll wash my hair at night, spray it with heat protectant spray (L'Oreal) and leave in conditioner (Smooth Sexy Hair), sleep on it semi-damp and then wake up and curl it with a wand. I spray the curls extensively with aerosol hair spray (Tressame). Only if I go on a water ride do I temporarily tie it back into a low ponytail with a crease-free holder. The curls usually fall out a bit by early afternoon, but I always take a midday break to change and freshen up for dinner, so I re-curl my hair then.
I also do a full face of makeup everyday--primer, concealer, foundation, bronzer, blush, eyeshadow/liner/mascara, lip gloss...it's how I get ready every day and it's how I feel comfortable. I want to look like "me" in my photos :)

I leaned from a 17 Magazine years ago (before You Tube was around) how to French braid my hair. there are good video's on the how to basic, French single and double braids on YouTube.

All I can say is bless your heart for trying. :) It seems no matter what style I try in the morning, I always end up with a ponytail or messy bun by the end of the day. I gave up a few trips ago and resigned myself to just starting out with the pony tail/messy bun. However, for this trip, I have had my hair cut into a shorter bob so there isn't a lot of variety there.
