Park Capacity Closure

Complaints about the "official WDW website" are very, very common.
Going there for accurate info can be a exercise in crazy-making.

But if I pay for valet I could leave vehicle and go to park?

Copy pasted from WDW website:

Resort Hotel Guests
Parking is complimentary for Disney Resort hotel Guests with a valid Key to the World Card or Resort Parking Permit.

Annual and Premium Passholders, in addition to Disney Premier Passport holders, can park at no additional charge.

If this is from the Parking Information, then that section is still listed under "Theme Parks" and not specific to the resorts just the theme parks.

Sorry, I just realized that I missed some posts and others had already made more point.

(forgot to add that I am a AP holder, but my mom and my husband are not, and they are usually the drivers. We have never had to present my AP)
Now, not to get into the great parking debate, :stir: but......
Four things:
1. Get there early and stay all day at the MK, thus being able to park, no worries.

2. You know the time at which you have an ADR, valet at a resort and then take the 'rail to the MK, eat and leave after eating. (just don't TELL the gate person that that is what you are doing. Often times, they don't even ask)

3. Park at Epcot and ride the rail to MK

4. Take the bus from your resort (assuming you are at a Disney hotel) and get to the MK.

I think those are the best options, pick what you want.

Nothing you said is controversial :)

Unless I missed something.

Normally (maybe 360 days per year, give or take) that would do the job.

But, on certain super-busy days, the MK lot can close due to overcrowding near 8:00AM, or so.

On or near Christmas is one of those super-busy times.

Scary stuff, kids! ;)

Actually, it really depends. Often, with parking lot capacity closures, they just divert people to Epcot's giant lot and bus or monorail people in from there. This is not always phase one though (generally, it happens if there's a phase one closure though).

Phase one closures simply restrict admitted guests to not include CMs using Maingates or Silver Passes and those who didn't pre-purchase tickets.

Really? As early as 8am? We have been around January 10, thanksgiving and every September, but this will be our first New Years week.

MK does open at 7 several days to on site guests. I would imagine that most of those will arrive through WDW transportation thus no need to park. So parking lot could fill before 8 by offsite guests that fast?

I am so spoiled by September and being first to park at every park every day we are there lol I would say the good news for us is, if we don't get in, oh well. We have AP's and will be back and can just go to the other parks and we have ressies at resorts. We are staying offsite but I am considering a Value room for a couple of nights.

How does this affect disabled parking? We are traveling with a disabled person with a permit.

Those spaces will fill up fast. When the parking lot is full, it's full.

MK will open at 7:00 every day from the 21st through January 1st. A lot of onsite guests will drive.

We are staying offsite but I am considering a Value room for a couple of nights.

For this year? Start looking now. At this point, you're probably going to have to jump on a cancellation.
