After reading this thread, could anyone seriously be confused as to why the CMs over at StupidGuestTricks.com view the DISers with an equal mix of trepidation and contempt?

I had never heard of stupidguesttricks.com, I thought it was a joke, but no, its really there!

side note: I love your pic of Tim Gunn. I can just hear him now saying
" make it work" or maybe " carry on" if he were to read this thread!

Thanks. :) I'm thoroughly convinced that it's really Tim Gunn's world and we're all just living in it.

And, yeah, StupidGuestTricks.com is no joke. It's absolutely astonishing the outright abuse these poor men and women have to suffer through, and with comparitively little pay. The ones that can actually develop a teflon hide and stick it out surely must love making people happy.

Yep. Reading through a few threads over at StupidGuestTricks has pretty much made me view eighty five percent of the threads here on the DIS with, shall we say, a more jaundiced eye.

I am going to tackle both sides of this issue.

The OP. We get it. You like the deluxes, always stay in them and can afford it. Good for you. We also get that you weren't trying to be snobbish. That's a matter of personal interpretation. I don't know you in person so I have nothing to say about that.

To the Values People. Are you honestly saying that if you had unlimited funds you'd choose Pop over the Beach Club or something? I mean, it's okay if you are, but honestly, sometimes I feel like both sides of this debate get a little silly. The Deluxe only people sometimes look down on the Value people and the Values because we prefer them people look down on the Deluxe people.

It's just stupid. I've stayed at every level of resort on property and off property also and I've enjoyed my stay each and every time because I am just lucky to be there. There are a lot of people who will never get that chance and I am grateful for what I have.

As for the walk. The busses are all within a fairly reasonble distance from the gates. If you have to walk an extra 40 feet who cares???

People are complaining that this person is complaining. How funny is that. Suppose if everyone would have just blown some pixie dust her way and said, Shoot. Sorry you feel that way." No, instead it's seven pages of complaining about someone complaining.

You obviously haven't read this whole thread if you think it's just "people complaining about complaining".

It is the WAY in which the OP made their complaint that was the issue.

If they had just come in and said, "Gee, I didn't get dropped off right at the front and instead at another resort's bus stop. I didn't care for that."

But the OP started right in on the "I pay for a deluxe and I expect..." blah blah.

It's not about what you say, BUT HOW YOU SAY IT.

She/he chose to complain while expressing snotty elitism - again, as I've said several times in this thread, if they hadn't started the whole "I'm in a deluxe!" can of worms, this would have never happened and people would have just said, "Yup, that can be a pain."

Regardless of all of this, though, I still find it sad that walking a few hundred feet was so traumatic someone would need to start a thread to "vent". Maybe God was telling the OP they needed more exercise...but coming here and making a complaint while being snotty and elitiest just isn't the way to win "pixie dust".

If you can't see the difference, I guess there is no use in explaining it further - sometimes people just can't see the forrest for the trees.

Okay, first, Disney DOES think about how the Resort bus sections are numbered, but even more importantly, how they are assigned. I wasn't on the bus that dropped you off, but I'm 100% sure the driver announced which stop number is assigned to the Contemporary's buses specifically so Guests will know where to wait when they want to return to the resort. In addition to that, there are signs both as Guests approach the bus area indicating the direction in which to head for various resort buses, and there are signs overhead with the name of the resorts AT the bus pickup area. Now, in all fairness, you chose to do something other than determine and head directly for your bus stop.
For the record the bus driver did not announce which bus station # for the Contemporary, Polynesian & Grand Floridian. So when my Dad & I left MGM we looked at the board with the Resort bus station # & I am going to repeat what I said before. We ran because we had no idea if the bus was about to leave & as we were running it was pulling away. I said before it was our fault that we missed it because we were looking at a photo which was taken by a Photopass CM. So we had no idea the bus was even there, so your theory to me does not make sense.

Also for the record the Contemporary, Polynesian & Grand Floridian station was #12 or 13, which was almost at the end of the bus stations at MGM which is why we had to run. If it was between #1-5 we would have made the bus. So obviously at MGM they do not do the buses based on Deluxe, Moderate & Value.

Finally the other replies here against the OP, all I have to say is a lot of members here can be very rude.

There is no crying at Disney World. Suck it up and go enjoy yourself!

I do understand your point. But since it's only a 100 feet or so it's not really worth worrying about.

Sorry, needed to add this before you say Suck it up! :rotfl:

Here's my opinions:

1. Yes, it is unbelievable that this thread has gone this many posts for something as insignificant as this subject.

2. Why "lock" it when all you have to do is not look at it and not post on it.

3. My feeling is that WDW has one of the largest privately operated transportation systems in the world. It runs pretty smoothly and services a lot of people efficiently and quickly.

4. Life is way to short to be concerned about a 100 yards of additional walking, especially when you will get it back at the end of the day because the stop is closer.

5. I only use the hotel for sleeping, showering and end of the day vegging out. That is why I won't pay for a deluxe, moderate or value. It is still more expensive then comparable hotels on 192.

6. I always have a car with me. I never want to be having to rely on others to get me places.

7. In the long haul it doesn't matter what we think about the "fairness" of it all...this is the way it is. Let's move on.

This might get me flamed by others who flamed the OP, but I am not going to be afraid to say it. I think WDW should upgrade the bus service for each Deluxe Resort. After all these guests pay the most $ per night to stay at these WDW Resorts, so why should Transportation not be any different. I can't tell you how many times my family & I have waited for a Contemporary bus at Downtown Disney & saw so many All Star Resort, Pop Century, Caribbean Beach & Port Orleans buses, before the next Contemporary bus. Because of that whenever we go to Downtown Disney we take my Dad's car which saves a lot of time & this is something we have mentioned to Cast Members that this part of the bus system needs to be fixed. So I think it's fair that guests at Deluxe Resorts should get the same great bus service that guests who stay at Value & Moderate Resorts. Afterall I have read so many posts saying how great bus service at Pop Century or Coronado Springs is, so why should Deluxe Resorts not be any different?

So if you want to examine the Value, Moderate & Deluxe Resort battle, guests at the Value & Moderate Resorts should stop & think how great their bus service is, before attacking guests who stay at Deluxe Resorts who complain about bus service just because we may get much bettter services & etc. In fact part of me thinks a bunch of people who flamed the OP have stayed at Value or Moderate Resorts & thought the OP was being a snob for posting this thread.

When we were there in late August we noticed something frustrating. We stayed at WL and when we would arrive at the parks via bus, the bus would OFTEN stop at one of the POP bus stations, which was often number 13 or so, and tell us when we return to go to bus stop number 2 or 3! (because number 2 or 3 was the REAL WL stop). We got frustrated having to walk from far away stops to the park entrance just because our bus was about to turn into a POP bus and needed to be at that station to pick up POP people. It probably sounds petty or snobbish, but part of our choosing a deluxe resort was the transportation perks. Have any of you experienced this? Does it happen frequently or did I get a bad week?

Original comment was deleted cause it did not sound nice (wasnt meant to be ugly, just came across that way when I read it again) so I deleted it. :grouphug:

This time I will just say, don't sweat the small stuff.

No flames. I am just pointing out that:

The Contemporary has 1,041 rooms.
The All Stars have 1,960 rooms at each resort for a total of 5,760 rooms.
Pop has 2,880 rooms.
CBR has 2,112 rooms.
POFQ has 1,008 rooms and POr has 1,024 for a total of 2,032 rooms.

So all of those resorts have twice as many rooms as the CR and perhaps that is why there are twice as many buses running for those resorts.

Thanks for pointing out the differences in total rooms between the Contemporary & other Resorts you mentioned. However since the Contemporary has 1,041 rooms how come they don't have more bus service? I am sure they are right up there with the Resorts you mentioned for total rooms, so to me because of their total room number there should be more buses, but that is just what I think.

"How come"? /shudder

I think you are missing the point.

The Contemporary has around a thousand rooms.

Pop Century has around three thousand rooms.

Pop Century three times as many rooms as the Contemporary, which means three times the people who need transportation, so therefore you will see three times the busses scheduled for there.

Your argument seems to be they should run more busses simply for Deluxe resorts because they are deluxe resorts. I disagree, and I think Disney would argue that the Resort Transportation is not hotel-specific; meaning that as a resort guest you have access to the same transportation system everyone else does. The bus system doesn't work "for" the Contemporary, in essence, it's an overall feature of the property that you are entitled to access to.

NO I am not missing the point, I was just stating my opinion. I thought based on the Contemporary's total room numbers they should have more buses, which is a fair thing to ask.

But that wouldn't make any sense. CR doesn't have that many rooms compared to many resorts, so chances are that they would be running the busses for only a few people for the vast majority of the day. Financially from any business standpoint that's a ridiculous waste of money.

Just a side note, which I was unaware of until this past trip. We had an early morning ADR for Donald's Breakfastosaurus. Well since they run EARLY busses we went to the bus area at POP and waited and waited and waited. Well these other people show up like 20 minutes after us and get in line for the MK. (my son and I were waiting on the benches) So I ask the bus driver why in the world he is there for the MK when I have waited for like 30 minutes. Well the bus areas are all monitored by cameras. So the MK bus arrived because the cameras saw them there. Once we got in the actual que a bus arrived about 5 minutes later.
So my point is: maybe busses are only dispatched when there is enough people there waiting to warrent a bus. I don't know. Could be a possibility though. Since POP has so many more people than say CR, that is why you notice that many more busses coming to the POP bus stop.

I was only using the Contemporary as an example, because that is where my family & I always stay when on vacation at WDW. I think every WDW Deluxe Resort should have equal bus transportation like the Value & Moderate Resorts do. Afterall it was said in an earlier reply that the Deluxe Resorts are not the greatest when it comes to bus transportation, so if WDW can they should improve it. So for the people who comment on how great bus transportation from the Pop Centruy or Coronado Springs or any of the other Value & Moderate Resorts, should feel lucky having very little wait times for buses. Finally they should not always say how Delxue Resorts guests are snobs who complain about 1 thing they can't get their way.

Well, yeah, you are.If there are 2 schools in a town, one school has 1000 students and the other has 3000, it seems rather logical to me that the 2nd one will get more buses.

I think that if a hotel is further away from a particular park, it should get more buses for that particular route. I've sat for 45 minutes at the GF and Poly bus stops waiting to go to the parks..should not be!
