Park at hotel instead of garage for just the day?

I am considering parking at the Portofino Bay and taking the boat to Universal. We are using our DVC points to stay at the Poly. Last time I stayed at PB, I saw they offer day parking for non-hotel guests. Has anyone done this? It looks to be the same cost and I would love to take a boat ride and avoid the long security line. Plus get gelato on the way out!

Parking at the UO garage is $27/day and parking at PBR is $45/day for non-resort guests, so I guess you'd have to decide if the boat ride is worth the extra cost.

I like this idea!

What I don't understand though is they also have an hourly rate that says 30+ minutes is $45. Why wouldn't it just be the daily rate of $30 at that point?
Non-Guest Parking
  • Hourly Rates. Under 5 Minutes: complimentary. 5-10 Minutes: $10 plus tax per vehicle. 30+ Minutes: $45 per vehicle.
  • Daily Rates. Self-Parking: $30 plus tax per vehicle. Valet: $42 plus tax per vehicle, per night.

I would just Uber/Lyft to HRH or RPR or PBH and walk in from there. We’ve done this before.

ETA: you do NOT need dining reservations to be dropped off there like Disney requires.

That’s a good idea! How much was it to ride share?
Well I just looked at what we paid back in November around 4:30pm and it was about $45 so it might not save you money but it was very convenient. Cost will vary depending on time of day etc.

I just priced it out at this moment and Lyft is quoting $21 from Poly to HRH.

I have no idea. Maybe a different lot like at the airport?

Thanks for that info! We have two car loads of teens so will probably just drive. If it were just hubby and I in the future though…
