Parents, would you do this?

Did you see what that kid did though? Of course I would sell it. :earseek:

I don't think it's worth the $122 that someone paid for it, though.

I don't know... But it sounds like they let it go way to far before they took control of thy're son. I bet this isn't the first time for these antics!!!

Yes, I would do it in a heartbeat! I think these parents have their hands full...

I have absolutely no problem with that playstation going bye-byes.

However, what bothers me is that she seems to be more upset about her loss of money (expensive wine, bottles of beer).

How about the fact that she has a serious problem with this 13 year old getting into alcohol to begin with?

It seems like the consequences are because he cost her money, not because he was drinking

I have to applaud this parent's actions. I don't know if I would be able to follow through with this kind of punishment, ( I hope I would, let's see in about 5 years!) but it most definitely fits the crime. I wonder if this kid got many emails about his playstation?... He will definitely remember this the rest of his life- a good thing!::yes::

CRB#33, I thought the exact same thing. The dollar figures are prominent, meaning a huge concern with money. I would definitely be more concerned with the kid's drinking..

Yup, I'd sell it. Personally, I think those parents have a much bigger problem on their hands. The son sounds like he is heading out of control.:(

First of all, I would never allow my children to play video games or watch tv for hours a day. It is a fact that too much of this causes attention problems in young children.

I would NEVER humiliate my children like that either. I think it is crazy when my friends have to tell everyone in the neighborhood what their children do. Private things that are embarassing. I think what happens in the home should stay in the home. This parent is obviously very immature and should take some advice on how to properly discipline her children.

She should have just taken the game away and hidden it for a month or so and made the child really think about what he did.

So, the consequence of drinking, lying and stealing should be loss of video game for a month? You don't have kiddos, do you?

I feel the mom was showing DS that he had to replace what was taken and the PS2 was the one thing that would get his attention. Well done!

Yes actually I do and the consequences of stealing, lying, and drinking should be dealt with individually. Of course I don't think that taking a video game away for all that is the answer. I also don't think displaying all your dirty laundry on E-bay is a wise choice. I think her point was proved by just selling the game but she could have done it in a more mature manner, maybe by putting an ad in the paper. I don't think you should humiliate your children to make a point because this is only going to teach them to do the same to other people.

I think someone is trying to write another "creative" Ebay ad to make money and perhaps get their 10 minutes of fame like a few others have recently.

“Well I hope you enjoyed that because it cost $120.00 a bottle

SO, had it been a cheaper bottle it wouldn't have been so bad that a 13 year old was drinking? Of course, since they seemed to be only mildly upset that he was drinking beer, I would have to assume that was the case. This one is just too over the top to believe.

Would I do this? No, but then again I'm not so desperate for money that I'd make a fool of myself writing such a ridiculous ad.

I wonder how much of the story was embellished in order to get more bids on Ebay?

my applause to the parents.. you have to make them know who's boss!! if you don't draw the line now when they are young, you won't be out just beer and wine money.. it will be bail money!!

FTR, the parents took little risk in humiliating the child, unless they printed his name.
