I'm thinking about DCL for our 25th anniversary...just the two of us. This will be our very first cruise, but since I love Disney, I figure it has to be good.

For those of you who have cruised this line, are there many adults who don't bring their kids. I wouldn't want to feel out of place being just a "couple"

Thanks.

We've sailed many times with no kids, once with. If you're a Disney fan, I don't think you'll have any problems. There are many childless couples on board. I never once felt out of place.

We have cruised three times -- all with our three kids. However, I wouldn't hesitate to cruise without them. I wouldn't feel out of place by not having them with us. Disney is first-class all the way.

My DH and I will be taking our first cruise for our 15th Anniversary in 2006 WITHOUT our three children. This is a very big step for me and I hope I will not be crazy from worry while we are away but I would really like to be alone with my DH. From what I understand Disney does a great job with making sure the adult areas stay adult! We can't wait!!

I have done both and on each cruise we did different things.

On the adult only cruise we hung out at the adult pool...very quiet, relaxing and they play mellow music so you don't have to hear "Who let the dogs out" all day!

We did some of the adult only entertainment like wine tasting and the Art of Entertaining...very fun.

We went dancing each night and had a ball at 70s and 80s night...Disney really knows how to get the adults involved, it was a blast!!

We spent the day at the the adult only beach on Castaway Cay...this was the best day of our trip!!!

We saw movies that we don't have time to see at home.

Spent some time at the ESPN Club...now they have a new sports bar that is even better!!!

Really enjoyed our quiet time;)

Needless to say it felt like a totally different cruise from the one we went with the kids. We didn't do any of these things with the kids and we loved both cruises!!

We just came back form exactly what you thinking about. 25th Anniversay (a few months early), no kids, and 1st cruise.

We had a wonderful time and, of course, have rebooked! You won't regret it at all.

We have had 4 weeks on the Magic without children. (Yes, DD is a CM on board, but hardly saw her - due to long working hours). We found it a fabulous experience: you get to see all the children's expressions when the characters appear, which is priceless: but also get to "chill out" on secret deck 7/Topsiders - at sunset/adult beaches/etc. Something for everyone, and its such a "fun" ship. Wouldnt care to cruise on an "adults only" cruise - must be boring. Cant beat Disney in my opinion. Nat:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We have sailed on 2 - 3 day cruises and 2 - 7 day cruises on the Magic. We are mid 50s and loved every minute of it. We hope to go again in 2005. We may have to change our adult only perspective for the next trip. My son and his wife are headed to Russia next month to adopt two children. They may get their first taste of Disney (other than their room) from the Magic.

We just got back in May from our first non-Disney cruise, 7 day South Bound Alaskan on the Coral Princess. We had heard great things about Princess but they paled in comparison to our past experiances on the Magic.

May I suggest? Opt for a Cat. 6 room. The balconey and split bath make it special. It is so worth the extra money.

Happy Sailing,

Russ :jester:

We just did this very thing back in May. My DH & I celebrated 16 years so we did a Disney Cruise without the children (after 4 cruises with the children on Disney.)

Our cruise experience was a lot like MNMom's. We enjoyed adult time. The adult only areas are so nice on the ship and wehad such a relaxing trip.

It is different, and there will definitely be times that you miss the kids, but you will have such a great time. We enjoyed our meals at Palo. Had the REAS package so we had some romantic time (couples massage, romantic turndown, champagne breakfast in the room) and completely enjoyed the adult beach at Castaway Cay all day.

In addition to seeing movies, we also went to the new sports pub and enjoyed playing some games (backgamon) and such one afternoon.

I say go for it. You will have the vacation of your life!

Like the others who have cruised without their children, I was getting ready to share my terrific adults-only experiences, when I realized that even when we DO take the kids, we are virtually childless anyway!!

They enjoy the clubs so much that we really only see them during dinner when they spend the entire time filling us in on their day & what they will be doing that night. Even when we seek them out & try to talk with them, they give us just a few minutes & then rush off to whatever we interrupted them from.

My husband & I love cruising DCL & recommend it to everyone - especially those going without children. The adults-only areas on the ship & on the island (CC) make it absolutely enjoyable. You can be around children IF you want to and you don't have to be around them if you don't want to. Also, we find it to be a very romantic cruise.;)

I have cruised a total of 4 times - three times on the Magic and once on the Island Princess (Alaska last August). Our first MAGICal cruise was just DH and me and our next one is the same, in fact we are celebrating his 50th birthday while on board. We found no magic on Princess.

Our children are grown..and we sail DCL without them..lol, they hate it that we do that...lol.

We love it. We have two more cruise booked, and are trying to squeeze in a third.

I'll be sailing for teh first time w/o my children in Sept. Going with a friend that needed a roomate.
I doubt you'll feel out of place. There is plenty to do just for adults. I plan on doing everything I wouldn't do with my kids there.
However, my husband and I plan to sail Celebrity without our kids when we get a chance! I have heard so many great things about that line, including incredible dining, food, service, cabins and very romantic.

Thank you all so very much for your responses and suggestions. I am much more comfortable now with the thought of going without the kids.

Thanks again!
