Parents of adult children

I guess it all depends on the situation. We never really used other names than our own growing up...except for my brother was "Kenny" and is now Ken but at family gatherings he gets called Kenny a lot, etc...

About the only term I can think of me being called is "The baby" but that is because I'm the youngest and in every generation that I know of....the youngest does have a tendency to get introduced as "and this is the baby, insert name"....I have heard my aunt be introduced that way too. So it isn't just me.

Now my siblings & I do have a tendency to call each other weird names but that is usually one of us harrassing the other one for doing something weird. LOL!

My son calls his sister Smalls

She always refers to him as Brother, even when talking to others, I heard her do it the other day with one of her friends. I don't think I have ever heard her say his proper name, he has and will probably always be Brother.

Well, my nickname has always just been a shortened version of my real name, but when my mom gets off the phone with me she still says "mommy loves you" :rotfl:

My mum still calls me "Kid." As in, when I call, she answers the phone with "Hey, kid..."

I'm 38...

Don't recall either of my parents ever using terms of endearment/pet names for me. I would hate it if they did.

I have two adult daughters and I still use pet names or terms of endearment for them, unless they're in trouble. Then it's "FIRST NAME MIDDLE NAME!"

Queen Colleen

This! Except if they're in trouble it's "FIRST NAME MIDDLE NAME LAST NAME" :rotfl:

When the kids were really young, I would called them pupe - short for puppeto, or puppeta - Italian slang for doll - otherwise always by their first name. I do refer to them many times as sunshine or my sunshine. I think the real answer here is their names.

Interesting, because this made me stop and think. I don't think I've used a pet name for my daughter (maybe sweetie when she was little). I definitely don't as she is an adult and I think she'd not appreciate it.

My mother never used pet names for us when we were little, but I know I was loved beyond compare. :thumbsup2

However, being the third of 4 kids, she many times would go through the whole list of names before she hit mine when she was mad. :rotfl2:

I am an endearment person, and my daughter will always be a variation of an endearment to me! She has many little nicknames in our house, and even if she gets all uppity on us when she grows up, I don't think we'll be able to stop. Personally, I hardly ever call anyone by their proper name, and if I do, it's a signal that I am being formal, usually because I either don't like or trust you very much :crazy2: Just depends on the kind of person you are, I guess!
