parents checking in a day after we do...what do I have to do?

We are going down starting July 7. My parents are coming down July 8 and staying through the 12th (when we all check out of BWV--they go home, we go to the Poly).
I want to be there when they get in, of course, but what else do I need to know? They will get their own room cards, right? Will it be fine as long as I explain it when I check in on 7/7? We have 3 kids so we needed a 2 BR anyhow, so that's not the issue. If by chance I am not there (I get stuck at a park, or their plane is late, or whatever) will they have trouble getting into our room?
Thanks for all the help.

You should make sure they are on your reservation if there is a possibility you won't be around when they arrive.

I would get their keys when you check in and have the desk hold them for your parents. When your parents arrive, they can simply ask if there is anything being held for them at the desk. They won't really have to check in anyways since you are all in the same room.

Enjoy!

We have done this and they put the room cards/keys in an envelope all ready to use when your guests arrive. The guest simply does what Doc suggests and they are given the room keys.

Robin,

We just got back from our first experience having guests at DVC. I agree that you should just get their key / cards and put them in an envelope for them to pick up. We tried to give all our guests' names to the front desk and allow them to check in as they arrived since we had two separate units. BIG MISTAKE. Man, I've never met so many people at one front desk who had no idea of what to do. At one point, they ended up completely cancelling and rescheduling our reservations so they could rectify an error. (That was on purpose, and it didn't change anything, but you can imagine how pleased I was when the CM said, "I'm going to have to take your entire reservation out of the computer and reschedule it.") Next time, I'm checking everyone in at once, no matter when each guest will arrive!

Thanks for all the help! I think I will just pick up the keys for Mom and Dad on the 7th, and make sure I'm in the vicinity on the 8th when they arrive. Their plane arrives at MCO at 11:18--hope it's on time, because we have a PS at Teppanyaki at 2PM!:D
I can't WAIT to see the look on Dad's face when he sees the room. He still can't believe we bought a "timeshare".

Robin,
One last thing. Bus service was great this year. Thought you'd like to know since it was one of the things we compared last year.

Our friends were amazed by the BWV also. Hope your trip is magical.
