That's pretty harsh, don't you think?
Circa 1977: My family was in Tomorrowland at the drinking fountain. My brother, then 7, got it into his head that he had to go on the Haunted Mansion ride RIGHT NOW! This was in the day that HM was an E ticket ride. He didn't have a ticket. He was lost for almost 3 hours. We had CMs helping us to find him and finally someone's grandmother sat on a bench next to him and started asking questions about where his parents were. He told her the whole story about wanting to go into the HM. She contacted a CM and we were reunited.
Were my parents negligent, no, I don't think so. They just had a rambunctious 7yo boy. He got out of their sight for a second and was gone.
You've painted the picture to be that anyone who loses their child is a bad person. I don't think heart4pooh was a bad parent either.
I DO believe that the Rodrigez's aren't the best parents in the world to leave their baby in a stroller in the sun while they went on rides.
Two completely different things, IMO.
As someone who couldn't have kids, these kinds of stories just burn me up.![]()
I am not the person you responded to, but I think that is completely different. A normal 7 yr old boy who wanders away and gets lost is different than a little girl left in a stroller with no one looking for her.
Please people...there is big difference between "Oh my God, where's Johnny!!!!!!" and frantically looking for him and engaging the assistance of cast members the moment you realize that Johnny is gone
and
"Do you have Johnny? Neither do I. Does anyone in our group have Johnny? No. Well, he's probably in the stroller. Let's ride POTC and Splash and then we'll look for him 2 hours later".
Hundreds of kids get lost at WDW every year, I am sure. Hundreds of kids don't get lost for 2 hours with their parents doing nothing to look for them...not even notifying a CM. Those were people who didn't want the 3 year old slowing them down on a ride.

My theory--the child probably fell asleep in the stroller, they figured, gee if we just leave her here she'll be fine, and went on a bunch of rides.
Thats a bunch of BS. We take our 4 kids to parks all the time, sometimes its just myself and dh is not with me. Now maybe Im OCD but do a head count often--even of my older kids who are way big enough to take care of themselves should we get separated.
One time my youngest wandered just a few feet from me at the FP machines at EE. Now its really busy there so it was hard to see him. I got a CM IMMEDIATELY to help me search the area. Luckily I found him right away but we both were crying. It scared him and me! No way in hell would I have not noticed I was missing a kid for a hour or two or gone on any rides!
That story doesn't fly with me.
These kinds of stories always make me very angry. I don't understand parents like that. My DD is more precious to us than anything. I can't understand how people would not care to know where their child is for a few hours. I agree with the saying "Would you leave a million dollars unattended in a public place for a few hours?".
