Thanks for the link on the other thread, which I see has already been locked. Sigh.
Hi, I'm Tricia. I like Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain.
No, wait. That's for a different kind of thread.
I'm 41. I have two sons, 6 and 2.5. I never fit in anywhere, it seems. They tried to find a "group" for me & my husband at the last church we attended regularly. Put us in with the 40somethings, but my husband is 50. Oooops. Also, we were the only ones in that group with small children. Double oooops. Tried to put us with the young family group. We were fine with it, but the younger parents seemed a bit uncomfortable around us, so we gave up. I don't know if it is a small town thing, a regional thing, or just a thing. We are still shopping for a new church.
DS6 gave us quite a scare last week. I got a phone call from school (he is in Kindergarten) and he had a seizure. They had called 911 and he was in the ambulance when I got there. We were transported to the hospital, where he had 5 more seizures over the next 12 hours. They finally got him on Dilantin, which is an anti-convulsive medication, and he hasn't had another one since. They asked all those questions... Any head trauma? No. Any history of seizures? No. Did he have a fever? No. Nothing that would give us a reason for why they happened. We're on a waiting list to see a Pediatric Neurologist at Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta. It could be months before we get an appointment, however, so I guess for now we just watch and wait.
DS2 is a handfull. I never experienced the "terrible twos" with my first child, but this one is making up for it.
My husband and I own our own business, so he works 6 days a week at the office while I do the bookkeeping and such on the computer at home in my spare time. Spare time? Ummm... how about I do the bookkeeping and such when it HAS to be done because deadlines are approaching, often sacrificing sleep to do so.
I don't know if that makes me a SAHM, a WAHM, or some other acronym. I'm a mom. I never knew I wanted to be a mom, but it turns out that I'm pretty darn good at it. I may screw up, but it won't be because I didn't love them enough. I've got that covered!
