Parasols and plane travel

I couldn't figure out which forum to post this in, so apologies if this is in the wrong place, and moderators, please feel free to move this to the appropriate forum.

We're leaving for Disneyworld next month, and I've asked my sister what souvenirs she'd like me to bring back for her and her kids. She said she regretted not buying the personalized parasols from Epcot/China when they were there last year. But the problem is, how do I bring those home? We're flying Southwest, and we will have a stroller and carseat already going into Gate Check. Will they allow us to bring the parasols to gatecheck as well?

You should pack these in your checked bags or in a carry-on bag (if they fit). You don't normally take a bag to the gate and check it, unless it is a small regional plane or the gate agent asks people to gate check carry-on bags because the overheads are full.

My DD got one and it fits perfectly in our checked luggage. So if you are checking luggage, it would probably fit.

It was a hair too long for the carryon luggage.

You could also have it mailed to your home. Just let them know that is what you want to do when you buy it and there is a form you will fill out. It does cost some money which depends on the amount spent but it's very worth it to me to not worry about squeezing something into my luggage if I'm not sure it will fit.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'll probably have them mailed if they look too big for our luggage.
