I did and I loved it! It was so nice to float up there.... I can't answer any questions about taking kids up - but I went tandem with another adult and it was nice to have someone up there to talk to.
I didn't wear shorts - just my swimsuit. The operator "dipped" us - brought us down low so our feet skimmed the water. (If you don't want that done, just ask.)
As for the cord breaking - relax, you have a chute on! DH did military parasailing, which requires a release. He siad the ride down was easy and to not panic. (He's done it both on land and water, and the water landing was MUCH easier than land!)
