Each year that we go to Disney we try to have a "surprise" for our daughter. For example, Pirate and Princess Party tickets, Illuminations Firework Cruise, Cirque du Soleil tickets. I am trying to think of something new and exciting for our upcoming trip. I am considering taking her Parasailing. She is 14 years old and I can't decide if that's too young. I would have to join her because she doesn't meet the weight requirement of 125 pounds. Me joining her isn't a problem...I'm not afraid of heights or anything like that.

Any thoughts? Has anyone done this at Disney and have any comments?

We did this on the cruise at Castaway Cay back in Jan 09.
On our boat we had 2 10yr old girls (they were in different families).
One was all gung-ho and excited, the other was timid and scared.

It was a bit windy that day, so they made everyone go up tandem.
The excited girl went early on with her dad and LOVED it.
The shy girl was still not sure when she and her dad were the last ones to go. So her dad went up with another guy- and she enjoyed watching him. Then she got up her nerve and went with her dad (lucky guy got 2 rides!).

She was giggling and laughing the while time- and even asked hem to dip her in the water!!!

I think 14 should be fine- but you know your daughter best.
Hope that helps a little.

I just took my 8 yo 2 weeks ago (8 is the minimum age) - she LOVED it! I would not have booked it for her if she did not already love all thrill rides (it was also not a surprise, so she was excited about it). You know your daughter best - is this something she would enjoy? If so, I definitely do not think 14 is too young!

My best friend and I did this tandem at age 15 in Destin, FL. We LOVED it! I am not a thrill ride person at all and I was very freaked out about it. The sensation can be most described as riding in an elevator. The only advice I would give is ask them not to make you drop quickly if she is timid it. Have a great trip!
