Has anyone ever done this?
Can you describe the experience?
Thank you!!!

I did a tandem last August and it was INCREDIBLE! But warning, if you have a fear of heights it might hinder the experience. ;)

The staff was incredibly kind and helpful and I never felt my safety was compromised, the equipment is sturdy. They slowly bring you up and it is the strangest feeling! I always thought that being up that high you would just hear the wind whipping through your ears! But it was deathly silent. I could have whispered to the tandem partner behind me and they would have heard me! It was very cool. :thumbsup2

You get incredible views of the Magic Kingdom, GF, Poly, Contemporary and WL. You can see the Epcot ball perfectly as well. The views are incredible. The castle stage show was going on at MK at the time so we even got a little fireworks show! We loved the experience and I don't think I could ever have as much fun parasailing as I did then....you can't beat flying over the Magic Kingdom!

Some pics for you of us from the boat...

And here are some pictures I took from up in the air...

My DH and DD did this two years ago and had a blast. She wants to do it again so bad.

If you do this, definitely let them take pics and buy the DVD. It wasn't expensive and we got over 70 pics of them up there.

Thanks for the feedback and photos.

I am mildly afraid of heights... so I'm not sure how I will feel when I get up there. It just seems like it would be fun!

My brother - who will be visiting WDW for the 1st time in August - says he will do it with me.

What could go wrong...

ridisneyfan9 - Your parachute was so much cooler than mine!!!! ;)

To OP - the person I went tandem with is also afraid of heights. He was a little nervous and jittery up there, but if you ask him now if he would do it again, he'll jump up and tell you heck yes! It's just something you have to experience, phobias notwithstanding. I say go for it!

Holy crap this is awesome -- do they take the pics of you? Does your family get to ride on the boat or do they have to wait at the dock?

And on the site it says you don't even get wet... how is that even possible?

Thanks to all who posted such great pics.

Your family can ride on the boat if there's room.

They allow you to take pictures from the boat, but the pictures they take are much better and not too expensive. I don't remember the cost, but I wouldn't have bought them if it was a lot.

I am afraid of heights, but this didn't bother me. For some reason, if I am secured it doesn't bother me and you are definately secured in a harness.

You don't get wet because you take off from a platform on the back of the boat. They gain speed, let out the parachute, start letting out line, and you just coast up. Very smooth. I had heard stories of people doing this in Mexico where you have to run along the beach to the water to get up in the air. This is nothing like that. You sit in the harness, and wait for the speed and air pressure to start lifting you.

Just made reservations for my son and daughter to do a tandem in 2 weeks, they can't wait to do it again.

Note that there is a minimum and maximum weight restriction. It didn't affect us, but they didn't mention it on the phone and my fear is that someone would get excited and then be told no when they show up. A couple even slightly overweight probably couldn't do a tandem as I believe the combined weight is 330 pounds.

Thanks for all the deets -- this is awesome. I'll be at the BLT in August, and I'm SO doing this when I'm there.

Can anyone compare the regular to the deluxe flight?

I'd take my 6-year-old up for a tandem, but my wife would probably never speak to me again.

It IS awesome. We didn't have them take pictures, family members took the pictures themselves and I thought they came out fine, probably couldn't have been any better. I personally wouldn't spend the extra money on the photos but that's just me. :) And I think the TRULY priceless pictures are those I took from up in the air! How else would I have gotten such a great view of MK and all the resorts around 7 seas lagoon and bay lake?

PP is correct, you take off from a platform on the back of the boat...it's such a cool feeling too, you feel like you're just being plucked up right into the air! When the experience is done they pull you in while you're still moving and you land gently back on the platform. Not a drop of water on me. :thumbsup2

The regular flight is shorter and does not take you up as far. I believe it's 8 minutes at 450 ft vs. 10 minutes at 600 ft. We went deluxe and while the time difference probably wasn't worth much, the height difference definitely was. Felt like I was on top of the world.

Tell your wife she shouldn't worry about your 6 year old! It's so safe and to me wasn't much of a thrill ride. (Zip lining beat it by a mile) Totally worth trying out, we did it in August too and it was perfect on those baking hot days.

Real tempting since my wife won't even be there. My daughter is also thin as a wisp -- do you think that would matter?

Thanks for the tips. This looks like an unbelievable experience.

My wife and 9 year old skinny daughter did it May and they both loved it. It really sounds more intense then it is. Nothing gets wet, the boat crew was great, they will never forget it. Perfect.

Here's pictures of when I did it in 2009. When I did it I paid for the "deluxe" package which went higher and lasted longer. Not sure if they still do that.
