Has anyone seen this? It's rated R, and it's not even playing near me yet, but my 13 (almost 14) year old is dying to see it. She loves horror movies and this one is supposed to be super scary. I'm just wondering if it's super scary and that's what got it the R rating, or if there are sexual/super gory parts of this movie that should preclude her from seeing it?

Thanks!

From the reviews, this one looks to be more "terrorizing" than gory and gross. I haven't seen it, and I probably won't. With my overactive imagination, I bet I'd never sleep again if I did see it. Wouldn't surprise me much if my DD13 will want to see it tho; any reviews from anyone whose actually seen the movie?

I'll be going to see it this weekend. They say it's scary not gory. I love horror flicks, so I'm excited to see it.

Please, if you remember, come back and let me know what you think of it. If it's scary and has some language, I don't really care, but there are certain things that I still won't let her see -- the Exorcist being one. Maybe it's because I'm a big chicken? :rotfl:

Maybe we can send them together? :rotfl:

The movie's website says rated R for language. I'm going to see it this weekend so I will let you know after.

Thanks all! I guess I forgot to mention that I did watch the trailer, which doesn't show anything anyway. I've also read a few reviews. I guess I'm also wondering if this is all hype or truly scary. If she goes, I'll have to go as well, since she can't get in unaccompanied, but I really don't want to go, then be afraid to be in my own home. :lmao:

The majority of the reviews I have heard say that it is like haunted house scary with creaking doors, and things that go bump in the night. I don't think it is supposed to be gory or anything. If language isn't a worry to you, it sounds like your DD should be ok :goodvibes

I saw a special screening of it the other night. There is really no gore or sex. There is alot of the "F" word. It will keep you on the edge of your seat and there are some pretty scary parts. I will let my 14 year old see it, but it really depends on the kid and how much something like this would scare them.

Thanks Pennykay! Now I just have to wait for it to be in a theater near us. I once bought DD The Ring for Easter. :rotfl: The scarier the better for her. She's much braver than I am.

It's not even showing in my state!! I so want to see it!! :headache:

I know many haunt enthusiasts and this one is going over big! It's only showing at or around midnight here so I'll have to wait to see it though.

I just have to do a standing ovation for the film's makers.

I think they made it on a budget of $12.53.

I've been dying(no pun intended) to see this since I first saw it advertised. No screenings in my area though. Most recent horror films (minus The Orphan...that one was well-made & with a good twist in the end) have been letdowns. I miss the good 'ol days of The Shining, Carrie, etc. This Paranormal film looks to be a classic, and not just CGI effects for 2 hrs.

This movie is at every theater near me, I was shocked. I think I'm going check it out tomorrow. :thumbsup2
