Paradise Pier Hotel Questions

On the parking - the fee covers two vehicles. We are normally a family of 4 - but were taking my mom with breathing and mobility issues last October when we stayed at PPH - and ended up taking two cars.

When trying to talk my DH out of that idea - I looked into the parking fees, and PPH covered two (most of the harbor only allowed one). So we ended up taking two cars.

DVC members the parking was free, pool hopping is a big NO.

Jack

Just wanted to confirm that Jack is correct. The only time we were allowed to pool hop was when we were staying GCV and the Grand's pool was being worked on.

Double-confirming.

We got to use the DLH pool during our stay at PPH, but only b/c the PPH pool was closed.

We are taking our two young adult kids with us in September prior to the fall quarter beginning. We chose PPH so that the kids could truly feel the "magic" all 5 days. We paid for a resort view room with two queen size beds but I believe it's just a standard room. Does anyone know if they'll be a couch that folds out to a twin or double size bed? If no, then do they allow roll-aways for an extra charge?
Also, I can't seem to find it now but I thought I read that you can watch and listen to WOC by the pool at Paradise yet in looking at the map, it appears to me that the pool is behind the hotel? One more question please. I see that the hotel has it's own parking garage is it a long walk to the garage?
Thank you for your help. :)

Your room will have a couch/daybed. It is about the size of a twin bed.

You can watch the fireworks from the PPH pool deck, not WOC. If you have a view room, you can see WOC from your room, but it will be the back side of the show and won't take the place of actually seeing it in CA.

Hope that helps!

Oops, forgot one answer. It is not a long walk to the garage.

I don't know about the DVC parking, but I wanted to say that while the WOC view is not at all the same as seeing it from the front, with the images, my family finds it quite magical to get in our jammies, and watch WOC from our room. When we were there in May of 2011, we caught a couple grad night shows, and it was wonderful. It was part of our decision to stay at PPH when we went for Christmas later that year. Maybe we're easily impressed, but we love it. Again, don't skip WOC in the park, but don't miss it from the room at some point either.

I also believe this, gives you a totally different perspective of the show. You see the patterns in the colors in the water which you miss when you are watching in the park.

This is my experience too. I've had 2 PPH theme park view rooms (the rest of my PPH rooms have been standard), and both times I saw the back side of WoC. None of the projected images in the show were visible at all. While it is cool to be able to look out the window and see colored water jumping and dancing about, as well as hear the music, it wasn't anything like seeing WoC in person, I'm sure.

I think I was just so taken by the theme park view in general and how cool it was to see DCA from my window that I loved everything! I was looking out that window every chance I got. I was even up in the wee hours (when it was still dark) watching the WoC testing going on.

Stayed in a standard room at PPH last week. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a view room on the 6th floor. It featured 2 queen beds and a sofa that can be turned into a bed. The view from this floor is nice - you can see TOT, the Grizzly peak, CS, and MFW. However, viewing WOC is not advisable from this floor. As posted by others, you can only see the upper, back side of the visuals. I imagine that the view would be much better on a higher floor.

How are the coffeemakers/coffee in the room? Can we get more coffee if we ask? Two little packets is NOT gonna cut it for us lol :surfweb:
Have a feeling we'll end up buying $4 coffee in the lobby anyhow, since hotel room coffee is always gross.

Also, do they have Pack&Plays in the rooms or do you have to ask for them?

I would just bring your own coffee - I don't know how the coffee makers work there (pods or whatnot) but I am sure that is easy to find out. That would be way cheaper than buying it in the lobby, plus you can bring coffee you know you like.

You can ask for more coffee and they (housekeeping/mousekeeping) will happily give you more. They will also give you new packets/pods each day when they clean the room.

Did you ask for an upgrade to a theme park view room? Or do they always upgrade if a room is available? Thanks!

Good info everyone. We will be staying at the hotel in late December. Is the pool heated or warm enough to swim in the winter months?
