I know where the parades run for all the parks. My question is, where are you allowed to claim a spot, and is the boundary the curb, or does it go onto the street? Is this different park to park, and different for daytime vs night parades (this would be for MK only). Any input would be greatly appreciated!

On each park map the parade routes are marked. You can get the maps when you enter the park, on the boats, or at your hotel.

The CMs start marking off the parade route 45 min or so before the start of the parade. You will not be allowed to stand in the street to watch the parade. Sitting on the curb is the best bet if you want to be in the front. If you stand on the sidewalk people will push in front of you.

I have seen parade watching spot procurement get ugly. I have had little kids shoved in front of me. Adults will jump in to tape things.

If parades are important to your family, I would suggest you grab a seat on the curb early. Send someone for drinks and a snack. Be prepared to guard your spot.

Thanks for the info! So, waiting on the curb sounds like a plan. I was wondering if the marked parade route is ever beyond the curb on the street? Will someone plop in front of us on the curb? Would that be allowed, or just bad manners?

There have been many threads devoted to bad manners exhibited while waiting for the parades and during the parades.

Will someone try to plop down in front of you at the curb? Don't be surprised if it happens.

Enjoy the parades though.

2 weeks ago for Spectro people were sitting on the curbs 2 hours before the parade. When we got our spot later behind some strollers of people sitting on the curbs there was a lot of pushing and rude people behind us, they were almost on top of the kids, trying to take pictures.

shelleyz- what night of the week was this and where were you sitting?

Usually cast members will ask people who park in front of those on the curb to move. It's a safety hazard.

Be careful where you pick to sit. Some areas are set aside for wheelchairs, but you might not know you have picked one of these until cast members come along to clear it out and rope it off. By then the up front spots may be taken. We usually ask a cast member if we think we might be in one of these spots.

As much as I hate to give away a great spot, since the nice people of these boards gave it to me, I guess I will do the same. ;)
At MGM to the right of Sounds Dangerous(when facing it) you will see those heads of famous actors. In front of those there are a few half walls. You can sit right on them and because the parade goes right by, no one can stand in front of you there. It was the perfect spot! We arrived 1/2 hour before the parade and there was still 1 wall available so we grabbed it.

jeankeri it was Wednesday October 22nd. We arrived at MK for Spectro at 5:30 and people were already sitting on the curbs on Main Street. We ended up watching the parade near the pathway to right of the castle that heads to Tomorrowland.

A great place to watch Spectro in MK is on one of the "porches" in Frontierland. The platform has two rocking chairs on it. It's across the street and down a ways from the Turkey Leg cart. I think it's in front of a candy store.

In MGM, we watched the parade from the round patio type area in front of the Brown Derby. It has benches in it, and you can stand on the benches to see the parade.

I got this tip from these boards as well. This is a great spot. Sitting on the wall is much more comfortable than standing or sitting on the curb. Plus the characters came right up to my kids to shake hands and interact with them. This is one of the best parade viewing spots in all of the theme parks .... but don't tell anyone .... it will be our little secret :teeth:

Thanks for sharing! My DH will be quite impressed with all these great hints! I really just don't want to camp out somewhere thinking it's a great spot and find out it's not allowed, or that the area in front is up for grabs. Are the WC reserved parade spots noted on the park maps?

The best place that we found to view the Wishes fireworks is on the brige to Tommorrow land. Also if you stand in just the right spot Tinkerbell will fly right over you and she will wave to you! She even blew us a kiss!!!
