Parades after 1/3

We're headed to DLR in the middle of January, and in looking at the daily entertainment schedule I noticed that no parades are listed after 1/3. I know the schedule is constantly evolving, especially after the holiday season, but I was wondering if there was any announcement that parades will not run during during the offseason or if they simply haven't released the parade times yet. Would hate to miss Pixar...one of DW's highlights!

In DL a new parade is starting. It will be called Soundsational. It is unknown when it will start but probably not until mid or late in January. Below is a link to some parade concept art.

In DCA it may be because they want to update the Calendar when they are sure of what's happening in DL. But it could be an indicator of Construction along the parade route that would disrupt the parades.

The Pixar Play parade will be going on hiatus at some point next year because of construction.

As of now there will be no parades at the DLR until around the beginning of March. Soundsational is not suppose to officially premiere until the first week of March. The Pixar Play Parade must go on hiatus due to construction on the Main Entrance area.

Are you sure about this because Disney said Soundsational would start in January?

This could be a classic example of the dreaded "dates and offerings subject to change" disclaimer. :sad1: Although, I had always assumed (or heard somewhere) that Soundsational would be a March/Spring debut too. Do you remember where you saw January mentioned as the start date of the new parade? The Disneyparks blog post above doesn't get into specifics besides "in 2011". I would love to see it sooner rather than later too. :goodvibes

It was in the disney blog.

Totally bummed if the pixar parade is not going. Hopefully Lightning and Mater will be out somewhere - my boys would love that.

The parade in DL makes sense. I would think they'd start it after the main street paving is complete which is in March.

Definitely not January 3rd. We are being told a March premiere. When it was first announced it was suppose to be January but unfortunately it has been delayed.

Mater and Lightning were still at their usual place in Condor Flats in November. I'm not aware of construction work in that area, so they should still be around.

I also read on several websites that Soundsational is scheduled for January.

Headed to the park February 2-5. Still no parades scheduled on the Disneyland and California Adventure schedules.

Anyone have any information to the contrary, or does it look like we'll be out of luck on catching a parade during our trip?

We visit about once a year, always during the off-season, and have never been the the park without there being 2 parades to see. Kinda disappointing to see none scheduled for this trip.

Is this just something that happens from time to time?

That's too bad! My girls have been dying to see the Pixar Parade since they heard about it from their cousins who went in early December. Hopefully there is something in mid-February...

Disneyland may not have a parade for a specific reason. They may be repaving main street while your are there. They do the street one side at a time but this makes it too narrow for a parade.

Yeah, I second this. I think MousePlanet is showing Main Street vehicles down through much of or all of February due to the repaving. I would think the repaving would be an impediment to the parade also. This may also be a good excuse for Disney to take more time to finetune the new parade before its debut.

As for Pixar Play Parade that a PP was asking about, I just read recently in the OC register online that this weekend is the last time they are running the Pixar parade until next November! Construction will prevent them from running the whole parade, but the plan is to use characters and floats and have "Pixar pop-ups" entertaining people at times. After being away for so long, I wonder if the Pixar Play Parade will actually return as we know it, or if there will be changes in the meantime.

It really is too bad both parades are down at the same time. It seems that with some planning they should have left the pixar parade up while the main street repaving is going on and then stopped it.

The biggest bummer is we're there BEFORE the paving begins and there is still no parade at DL. I don't know why they couldn't run it the first 2 1/2 weeks of January.

I agree that it is a big bummer that you will miss the parade, but I'm guessing that they don't actually have the new parade ready. It seems like the Main Street repaving is a perfect excuse to delay. Even if they weren't doing a new parade, I don't think they usually run a parade the first few days after the holiday season ends. They probably need time to redress the float vehicles. So that leaves about 10 days that Disney could run the parade (if they even have one ready to go) before the repaving is set to begin, and it probably just isn't worth it to bother. Waiting until March gives Disney time to finish any work on the physical aspects of the parade and allows them to delay hiring and paying parade performers.
