My husband bought tickets through his job that are 10 day park hopper and non-expiring. I expected to see the hard plastic like the room keys or annual pass sold at the Disney store, but they are paper tickets with a magnetic strip on the back. Is this the norm?

Our last 5 years worth of renewals on our Florida residents seasonal passes have been on heavy paper....must be the norm now. :confused3

IN December I bought 10 day hoppers, no expirations and they are paper. We had AP's till last AUgust, and they were paper as well.

Yes, it's the norm for tickets purchased through third-partys like brokers, hotels, AAA, etc.

They're not really paper, per se, but Tyvec, which is basically paper with a Mylar substrate, like a FedEx envelope. They're tough as nails and incredibly tear-resistant.

Before I got APs...If I bought the tickets at WDW or through a broker, they were the paper kind. If I ordered them over the phone, through Disney, they were the plastic, credit card kind.

Even though the paper tickets aren't regular paper, I like the hard ones better.

...but that's just me.

We have always got our AP and other tickets from disney at the gate, and tickets have been paper. since about 2000 or before. If you get it at the resort it was on the room key, and when we bought MVMCP online from disney they were plastic. The paper ones are tough, I've never had one destroyed, and they need to last a year, with lots of trips, just be careful at ticket machine, on a windy day, sometimes it'll spit out your ticket and blow away.

We like to keep the tickets in our scrap books when we get home. The plastic tickets are so much nicer. Will we be able to trade our "paper" for plastic when we arrive?

I've never heard of anyone doing that. I guess if you want to spend the time waiting in line to find out, you could ask.

Some people reported being able to trade their "paper" tickets in for the plastic ones. But I have also heard from a large amount of people that they were not able to do this. If you have time, ask. It can't hurt.

I use my paper AP quite often and it looks as good at the end of the year as it did at the beginning. They are quite tough and you don't have to worry about them breaking or cracking.

It's not a matter of durablility. Like I said, we like to keep them in our scrap books and the plastic tickets LOOK better. It won't ruin our vacation either way. Just wondering.

The ticket will be replaced at no charge if it wears out. The lettering and codes on the back will not fade faster on a paper ticket compared with on a plastic ticket but for good measure you should copy down all that information on paper (or make a photocopy) for safekeeping.

We bought 10 day non-exp. passes from Ticketmania and then had them transferred to our room keys (plastic cards) on our last trip. It was just easier for us to keep up with one card(for room and park entrance). We did get a print out from Guest Services that shows the kind of passes we have and the #'s on the tickets in case they get lost.

That would be perfect. I hope we can do that next month. When was your last trip?
