PAPER Straws..ICK!

I HATE them.....I just thought of how bad they taste and I thought I would post. I obviously drink from the glass now and NOT the straw.

Why do they have to taste so BAD???

The only place we got those were in AK.....so we drank from the cup instead. It gave me a yucky feeling when I drank thru the straw.

I thought Animal Kingdom had some pretty decent ones...they didn't collapse. (You also must use paper straws at Animal Kingdom Lodge and Villas)

Huh.. We didn't have any problems when we used them. I didn't even notice a yucky taste or anything.

Whats even worse is a paper straw and a frozen chai latte from AK.The straw starts to wilt and gives me the willies.YUCK!!!

It's not the taste I don't think - it's the feeling you get from having paper in your mouth. It kind of sets me teeth on edge. The worst is with little kids - they have a habit of biting on them and a minute later they can't get anything out!

They don't hold up as well in the frozen beverages. I had a frozen lemonade when we were at the AK and the drink lasted longer than the straw.

For me, I think it is BOTH the taste and the texture of the actual straw. I totally understand WHY AK has to have paper straws, but there has to be a better way.

YES!!!!! I love, love, love those frozen chais and the paper straw gets all soggy and gross in them!

For me, it's definitely the feeling on my teeth. I would prefer listening to an hour straight of fingernails on a chalkboard than drinking from a paper straw...

I was just on a 70s thread...paper straws were the norm everywhere back then. So I am thankful it is only in AK now!

When AK first opened in 1998, there weren't straws or lids because of the animals. It wouldn't surprise me if WDW started using paper straws in all the parks to be greener since they are biodegradable.

It's not a problem. We just don't use straws at all at AK.

Well, like a previous poster, we used paper straws as kids, so I don't think they'd bother me. At least there are straws at AK. You will not find any straws in the water parks because they clog up the water filters, so I guess paper straws are better than no straws.

They should use Wafer straws and have them coated in chocolate! Once you are done with the drink, you eat the straw yourself ...
